Swami Vivekananda High School teacher arrested for sexually abusing 13 students
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 March 2020 7:04 AM GMTHyderabad: A 28-year-old private school teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting as many as 13 students on the pretext of holding special classes to prepare them for the Gurukul Schools entrance test.
Identified as Sama Sharath Kumar of Naagrkurnool district, he was working as a teacher in Swami Vivekananda High School at Yeldulta village of Gopalpet Mandal for more than three years.
The incident came to light when one of the victims informed her parents about his designs. Later he was caught by the villagers and handed over to police.
Sources said the school management has been conducting special classes to prepare students for Telangana Government’s Gurukul Schools entrance test. Sharath was also among the staff members who were holding extra hours at school.
Often he would take classes at late hours after school. During night classes, he would segregate boys and girls. While keeping boys busy with assignments, he would go to the girls’ room. He would take girls to a separate room, where he was sexually assaulting them.
Inquiries revealed that Sharath had been sexually assaulting the girls for a very long time. He used to threaten victims of dire consequences if they reveal it to their parents.
Preliminarily investigation reveals that he has so far sexually assaulted 13 girls. It is also suspected the more girls might have fallen prey to Sharath, but the victims are not opening up due to family pressure.
