Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (BRS) launched a blistering attack on chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, asking if he would remain silent if his own children were fed poison, as hundreds of students in Telangana’s residential schools continue to fall sick due to repeated food poisoning incidents.

30 girls fall ill in Nalgonda

KTR’s sharp criticism came on a day when 30 girl students from an ST Gurukul hostel in Nalgonda district were hospitalised after consuming food provided at the hostel.

Reacting to media reports that nearly 1,000 students fell ill due to food poisoning in the past year, he termed the situation as ‘criminal negligence’ and ‘spine-chilling arrogance’ of the Congress government.

‘One is a mistake, 1,000 is criminal negligence’

“One is a mistake, two is an error, three is a blunder. But 1,000 is criminal negligence and inane apathy! 1,000 is a lack of a system…a functioning government! 1,000 is a spine-chilling arrogance of a dictatorship!” KTR posted on X.

KTR accuses CM of turning a blind eye

The BRS leader alleged that despite repeatedly raising the issue, CM Revanth Reddy and his ministers chose to deflect, divert and whitewash the matter instead of taking responsibility.

“In your one year of office, at least 1,000 students in government residential schools suffered food poisoning and at least 100 died! Any responsible chief minister would have taken corrective measures,” he wrote.

“You are also the education minister, Revanth, but you didn’t even have time for a single review. So, let me appeal to you as a father to another father – would you be okay if it were your own child affected by such criminal negligence? Would you tolerate your children being fed poison instead of food?” he questioned.

Who should be hanged now?’

KTR’s remarks were a pointed response to CM Revanth’s earlier public statement that BRS leaders deserved to be hanged for injustices suffered by the State during their rule, especially on river water issues.

“Who should be hanged now?” KTR asked, concluding his post with a direct challenge to the chief minister.
