‘3 attacks in 3 days’: Congress slams PM Modi’s ‘silence’ on terror attack in J&K Reasi
Congress, Shiv Sena question PM Modi silence on terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, 9 dead and 41 injured
By Kedar Nadella Published on 12 Jun 2024 11:16 AM GMTHyderabad: The All-India Congress Committee (AICC) questioned prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘silence’ on the terror attack on a passenger bus in the Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, which resulted in nine deaths and 41 injured. The Congress party also raised an issue over the Union Government’s silence on covering national security.
“In the past 10 years, loud chest-thumping by the Modi government has made National Security a casualty, while innocent suffer the consequences of cowardly terror attacks, business as usual continues!” said Pawan Khera in-charge of media and publicity of AICC.
Even as Narendra Modi and his NDA government were swearing in and heads of state were visiting the country, India suffered a horrific and gruesome terror attack in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, where nine precious lives were lost. Not even innocent children were spared. Did the victims not deserve a word of sympathy from the self-proclaimed ‘divine’ Prime Minister?” the Congress party asked in a public letter addressed to the government.
Pawan Khera also mentioned the latest terror attack in Kathua, where one civilian was injured, in the last three days following the attack on Reasi, stating that the BJP government has not responded to the terror attacks at all.
‘3 attacks in 3 days’
On Tuesday, six security personnel and a civilian were injured in an encounter with terrorists at Chhatrakala, Doda, Jammu. According to officials, terrorists opened fire on a joint checkpoint manned by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police in the Chattergalla area along the Bhadarwah-Pathankot.
On Wednesday, terrorists attacked the Army's Temporary Operating Base (TOB), injuring five soldiers and one police officer.
“Three terror attacks occurred in Jammu and Kashmir in three days, while PM Modi is busy posting responses to congratulatory tweets by Pakistani leaders – Nawaz Sharif and Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif. Why has he not spoken a single word on the dastardly terror attacks? Why has he maintained a stoic silence?” the Congress asked.
Shiv Sena criticises PM Modi
Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray also targeted PM Modi over the three terror attacks in Jammu asking ‘who is responsible for it?’ Asking if PM Modi or home minister Amit Shah will visit J&K now, he said that if PM Modi can’t handle terror attacks then he has no right to be prime minister again.
Meanwhile, the Congress, while claiming that BJP’s ‘loudmouth chest-thumping and hollow claims of return of peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir have been thoroughly exposed’, listed the recent spate of terror attacks which it claimed ‘is a testament to the fact that their (BJP) “Naya Kashmir” policy is an abject failure.’
The Congress said that Pir Panjal Range has become a hotbed of cross-border terrorism in the past two years, as over 35 soldiers have been martyred in the attacks.
The Congress asked about the BJP’s responsibility in being unable to stop at least 19 major terror attacks taken place under the PM Modi government including CRPF camps, Army camps, Air Force stations and Military stations in Pulwama, Pampore, Uri, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Amarnath Yatra attack.
The Opposition leaders claimed that BJP’s inaction resulted in 2,262 terror attacks in J&K, in which, 363 civilians died and 596 jawans were martyred.
