Ahead of polls, five-time BJP MP from Jharkhand Ramtahal Chaudhary joins Congress
Five-time BJP MP Ramtahal Chaudhary and Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh National President Munish Tamang joined Congress party
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 March 2024 4:18 AM GMTNew Delhi: In a major boost to Congress in Jharkhand, veteran BJP leader and five-time MP Ramtahal Chaudhary, and Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh National President Munish Tamang joined the party.
In a related development, Hamro Party President Ajay Edward announced joining the ‘INDIA’ alliance.
All these leaders were accorded a warm welcome at the Congress headquarters here today.
Besides the Chairman of the Media and Publicity in Communication Department of the AICC Pawan Khera, General Secretary in charge for Jharkhand & West Bengal Ghulam Mohammad Mir, PCC president Rajesh Thakur, CLP leader Alamgir Alam and former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay were present on the occasion.
On joining the Congress, BJP veteran Ramtahal Chaudhary, who was a five-time MP and two-time MLA, said that he was very much impressed by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
He appreciated and welcomed Rahul Gandhi’s commitment towards social justice and caste census, which he said was the need of the hour.
Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh President Munish Tamang said that the Gorkha community has so far always supported the BJP, but in return, the community has got nothing but betrayal. He said he was convinced that only Congress can work for the welfare of everyone.
Hamro Party President Ajay Edward said that his party waited for years, but the BJP did nothing for Darjeeling.
He said five years ago when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Darjeeling, he had claimed that the dream of the Gorkha people was his dream, but nothing happened during all these years.
He also opposed the Agniveer scheme and demanded its scrapping saying it was a betrayal of our youth.
