AIMIM including Rohingyas in voter list at Hyderabad: Smriti Irani
"On one side, our soldiers are fighting on the border so that the enemy could not harm us, on the other AIMIM leaders in this old historic city helping illegal immigrants to get registered in the voter list," Irani said.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 25 Nov 2020 9:17 AM GMTHyderabad: Seemingly angry by the `surgical strike on China' jibe, union Minister of textile Smriti Irani accused AIMIM of including illegal immigrants in the voter list.
"On one side, our soldiers are fighting on the border so that the enemy could not harm us, on the other AIMIM leaders in this old historic city helping illegal immigrants to get registered in the voter list," Irani said.
The row over 'surgical strike' started on Tuesday, BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that they will conduct a surgical strike in Old City. "Once BJP candidate becomes Mayor, we will conduct surgical strikes in the Old City and throw out all Rohingyas. All Rohingyas and Pakistani nationals would be chased out from our area," he said while campaigning in the Old City.
Seemingly pressing BJP's raw nerve, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi later challenged the Modi government to carry out a 'surgical strike' in Depsang Plains in Ladakh where the Chinese army have allegedly captured 920 square kilometers of land.
The Union Minister of Textile Smriti Irani is in Hyderabad canvassing for BJP in GHMC elections. She said local and national media have shown the clips of Rohingyas thanking TRS and AIMIM combine for enlisting them in the voter list.
"A conscious state government would have ordered an investigation to ensure that Rohingya Muslims are not enlisted in the voter list. The fact is that the local TV channels have openly shown how illegal migrants are thanking both CM and MIM. It is a scathing proof about the corrupt alliance," she said.
Irani said AIMIM is using their letterheads to help illegal immigrants get voter ID cards. "The state government has not taken strong action against AIMIM leaders," she said.
Irani noted that the BJP stand is clear on the illegal immigrants. "Our stand is to protect Indian citizens. This great land rightfully belongs to Indian citizens. TRS and AIMIM espouse the cause of illegal immigrants," said Irani.
She also said that AIMIM and TRS are deliberately keeping old city underdeveloped.
