AIMIM leaders' arrest: BRS may have to face consequences in polls, says Asad in Nizamabad
Asad described the treatment as ‘unjust’ and cautioned that the BRS may have to face the consequences during Assembly elections.
By Md Nizamuddin Published on 26 Jun 2023 3:35 PM GMTHyderabad: In what appears to be a widening of the gap in the relationship between the ruling BRS government and the AIMIM, during his visit to meet two jailed AIMIM leaders in Nizamabad’s central prison in Sarangpur, Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the serious charges under which they were arrested. While refuting the claims of Bodhan MLA, Mohd Shakeel Aamer, that there was a bid on his life during the incident on June 16, Asad described the treatment as ‘unjust’ and cautioned that the BRS may have to face the consequences during Assembly elections.
Asad cautions pink party of consequences
Asaduddin said that the video of the youth (both sons of local women councillors) questioning a Bodhan MLA about development, is in the public sphere and an inspector can be seen standing nearby. “They neither abused him nor used vulgar language. Despite this, arresting them under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and for conspiracy is unwarranted and injustice.
“Iska qamiyaza, jab Assembly elections hongay iska natija dekhna padinga. (They may have to face the consequences at the time of Assembly elections.) Under the arrogance of power, you have made their arrests, and if their bail is not accepted, they may have to remain in jail for the festival. Bodhan’s people are unhappy with this action,” he warned BRS while addressing the media outside the district jail.
‘They had tirelessly worked for Kavitha’
Asad felt that it was unfortunate that both leaders had worked for him in the past. “They have worked hard for Kavitha during two Parliamentary elections, and this is the reward they get? I shall be taking up this matter with the DGP and chief minister and ask them to transfer SHO and SP to South Zone in Hyderabad. SHO may show his skills there,” he added.
10 named in the FIR, two put behind bars
Ahmed Abdul Althaf (27) son of ward councillor Mohammadi Begum and Naveed Raza (26) son of ward councillor Shaheen Begum were arrested following a complaint by MLA on June 16 and booked under Sections 341, 307, 324, 120 (b) R/w 34 of IPC. “Both of them argued (with MLA) and tried to attack him. The MLA was protected by the police force present on the occasion. Following a complaint of an attempt to murder by the MLA, they were arrested. They had planned this action a day before,” said local police officials to the media on the day of arrest.
As per the FIR, which named 10 persons as accused, it said that Althaf and Naveed had grudges. Along with their followers (eight others named in FIR) armed with sticks and rods, they obstructed the complainant (MLA) from inaugurating the stone for renovation of Darul-ul-Uloom High School with the intention to kill him. “The complainant managed to escape with the help of police and the public or else Althaf and Naveed and his followers could have killed him,” the FIR said.
