AP Congress first poll promise: Basic monthly income of Rs 5,000 to poor families

Anantapur: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee announced the first guarantee for the people of the state: the Indiramma Universal Basic Income Support guarantee.

“The Congress government in Andhra Pradesh will provide every poor family a sum of Rs 5,000 per month. We have kept our promises in the past and we will ensure the inclusive development of all sections of society in the future too,” said AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday.

The Congress president was speaking AP Congress Committee’s first public meeting on Monday as part of its ‘Chalo Anantapur – Nyaya Sadhana Sabha’ programme, ahead of the State Legislative and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the public, Kharge said, “In the last 10 years, injustice has been done to the people of Andhra Pradesh state. Not a single rupee came to Andhra Pradesh from Delhi. This state has given a great leader like YS Rajasekhar Reddy who makes the nation proud.”

He stated that choosing the BJP for Andhra Pradesh means making the same choice among TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. “Chandrababu and YSRCP’s Jagan sold Andhra Pradesh to PM Narendra Modi,” he said.

‘Jagan, Naidu brought no jobs to AP’

Also addressing the public in the meeting, AP Congress chief YS Sharmila lambasted TDP and YSRCP for showing no development in the last 10 years. “There are no jobs or any new companies brought to the state in the last 10 years. Naidu and Jagan took the state 25 years backwards,” said Sharmila.

Sharmila promised to develop the state like her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy if her party comes to power.
