The two had shifted their party loyalties a few months ago.
On January 3, Ramachandraiah quit the ruling YSR Congress Party and joined the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of party president N Chandrababu Naidu. Ramachandraiah is a native of Kadapa district and was elected by YSRCP MLAs and has his Legislative Council membership till 2027, which began in 2021. Vamsi Krishna Yadav, a native of Visakhapatnam, left the YSRCP and joined the Jana Sena Party on December 27, 2023.
Acting on a complaint filed by YSRCP leader and Legislative Council chief whip Merugu Muralidhar and L Appi Reddy, Moshen Raju served notices to the two MLCs to appear before him individually and provide an explanation for why they should not be disqualified.
The two MLCs gave their reply to the council chair and said that they were ready to face whatever action was taken by him. After going through their explanations and a comprehensive inquiry, Moshen Raju disqualified the two MLCs elected by YSRCP MLAs.
On February 28, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram also disqualified eight MLAs, four each from the YSRCP and the TDP under the anti-defection law, for shifting their loyalties to other parties. The disqualified YSRCP MLAs are Anam Ramanarayana Reddy (Venkatagiri), Undavalli Sridevi (Tadikonda), Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy (Nellore Rural MLA) and Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy (Udayagiri).
The four disqualified TDP MLAs are Maddali Giri (Guntur West), Karanam Balaram (Chirala), Vallabhaneni Vamsi (Gannavaram), and Vasupalli Ganesh (Visakhapatnam West).
