Apologise or face legal action: KTR to Bandi Sanjay over phone-tapping remarks
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has issued 48 48-hour ultimatum to Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay Kumar to issue an apology for making `baseless and defamatoryā allegations related to the phone-tapping issue.
Calling the remarks irresponsible and politically motivated, KTR has demanded a public apology within 48 hours, failing which he will initiate legal proceedings.
Irresponsible, senseless remarks
In a strongly worded statement, KTR condemned the Union Ministerās comments as āthird-rate, unfounded and degrading.ā He alleged that Bandi Sanjay was attempting to mislead the public through false narratives without verifying facts.
āThis is nothing but a desperate attempt to gain cheap publicity. He is lowering the dignity of the ministerial position,ā KTR remarked.
Legal notice issued
KTR confirmed that his legal team had served a notice to Bandi Sanjay. If the BJP leader fails to tender a public apology within the next 48 hours, KTR said he would take the matter to court.
āWe will not tolerate such reckless allegations anymore. These defamatory statements will be challenged legally,ā KTR said.
KTR dares Sanjay to prove allegations
The BRS leader challenged the Union Minister to substantiate even one per cent of his accusations with evidence. He accused Bandi Sanjay of repeatedly spreading misinformation and distorting facts on a serious and sensitive issue.
āPhone-tapping is a matter with legal ramifications. Irresponsible remarks without proof only show his political immaturity,ā KTR asserted.
Calls BJP leader a āPolitical Jokerā
Taking a sharp dig, KTR accused Bandi Sanjay of behaving like a āpolitical jokerā who resorts to street dramas for headlines.
āHe has made it a habit to throw sensational charges without substance. His knowledge of surveillance and intelligence systems is next to zero,ā KTR said, questioning the Union Ministerās understanding of governance.
Background: Allegations after SIT appearance
Bandi Sanjayās allegations came after he deposed as a witness before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone-tapping scandal.
He alleged that during the BRS governmentās tenure, phones of ministers, party MLAs, businessmen, lawyers, celebrities, and even family members were tapped on the directions of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and KTR.
KTR, however, rubbished the claims and said the BJP leader was engaging in malicious propaganda for political mileage.
