Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said Telangana Thalli was a profound embodiment of the mother on the first day of the Telangana Assembly session in Hyderabad.
āThe government considered two options, one of a goddess and another of the mother. Based on suggestions and feedback from intellectuals, chose an image of the mother finally. One can see our mothers in Telangana Thalli image,ā he said.
Further, he said Dec 9 marks a significant milestone in the history of Telangana. āOn this day, we honor the six-decade-long struggle of our people for a separate state, a movement rooted in sacrifice, unity, and undying hope. December 9, a day etched in the hearts of every Telangana citizen, commemorates the historic announcement made in 2009 by Sonia Gandhi, initiating the process of state formation, he said.
"In the spirit of this momentous occasion, we are proud to unveil the statue of Telangana Talli at 6 PM today. This statue is not just a representation of our culture and heritage but a profound embodiment of our mother ā a symbol of care, strength, and guidance that unites the four crore people of Telangana as one family," CM pointed out.
Telangana Thalli's image has not been approved officially till now.
For too long, the official recognition of Telangana Thalli has been delayed, leaving a gap in the collective identity, Revanth said. As intellectuals and scholars have emphasized, the image of Telangana Thalli must resonate with the idea of a nurturing mother, not adorned with symbols of power but with simplicity and affection that reflects our people's values, he opined.
Adding further, CM said the Telangana Thalli statue was a tribute to the Bahujan community and every individual who sees their mother in the goddess. āIt serves as a reminder of our roots and our shared aspirations,ā he said.
CM takes potshots at BRS
"The entire four crore people of Telangana are going to unite and celebrate today in a festive atmosphere. Unfortunately, some people did not like this," CM said taking an indirect dig against BRS had spoken against the change of the image of Telangana Talli by the Congress government.
"It is wrong to think that the idea of one person, one party is the idea of Telangana society. We are not living in an era of rule like the rule emperors of the Middle Ages. The present government is functioning under the aspirations of the people,ā he said.
'Political parties should rise above differences'
Revanth appealed to all political parties, leaders, and citizens to rise above divisions and join hands to celebrate this day with unity and love. Let this day be free of controversies and dedicated to the spirit of Telangana, he said.
Dec 9 will be Telangana Thalli 'Avatharana Dinotsavam'
Revanth Reddy stated December 9 will not only remind them of the journey towards statehood but will also mark the 'Avatharana Dinotsavam' of Telangana Talli.
āMay Telangana Talli bless us all with prosperity, harmony, and progress. Let us grandly celebrate her birth, honoring her as our mother,ā he concluded.
