Hyderabad: Telangana govt allots Minority Welfare, Public Enterprises portfolios to Mohammed Azharuddin
Hyderabad: Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises are the two portfolios allotted to Cabinet minister Mohammed Azharuddin, according to a government order issued by the Telangana government on November 4.
Mohammed Azharuddin took the oath as minister on October 31.
The announcement of the portfolios ended speculation about the various news going viral in the media and social media channels.
The minority welfare has been shifted from minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, and public enterprises have been shifted from chief minister A Revanth Reddy to Mohammed Azharuddin.
What are the two portfolios?
Minorities welfare
The portfolio includes the welfare of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis in the State of Telangana.
In the education sector: Overseeing scholarships of minority students both in the state and overseas. The department supervises the education in Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society.
In economic sector: Implement economic support schemes that involve bank loans and subsidies for self-employment and business ventures.
Supervising bodies like the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation (TSMFC) and the Telangana State Christian (Minorities) Finance Corporation would also come under this portfolio.
Social and cultural welfare: Shaadi Mubarak scheme, infrastructure grants, community functions and community prayer places. Administrative control over the Telangana State Waqf Board and the Telangana State Urdu Academy.
Public enterprises portfolio
The Public Enterprises Department is the nodal department responsible for the general administration, supervision and performance review of the State-Level Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or State Government Companies.
