'Better to die….': Narsipatnam councilor slaps himself with sandal for failing to fulfill promises to electors

Anakapalle : A councilor of Narsipatnam Municipality of Anakapalli district slapped himself with a slipper on Monday for failing to fulfill the promises to his voters.

M Ramaraju, councilor of Ward-20 of Narsiatnam, vent his frustration during the meeting on Monday. The video of his act went viral on social networking platforms. In the meeting, Ramaraju said it has been more than two and half years since he was elected as a councilor of the ward, but had done nothing in terms of solving civic issues like drainage, water supply connection, power, sanitation, roads, and a few other problems.

Explaining the reason for slapping himself, Ramaraju said that he was not happy for not fulfilling the basic needs of the people in his ward.

The councilor, who ekes out a living by driving an auto-rickshaw in Narsipatnam, claimed that he tried to use all the channels to solve the problems in the ward but to no avail.

Expressing much displeasure over the officials of the municipality, Ramaraju said Municipality authorities had done nothing in Ward 20 for the past three years.

Ramaraju said that it was better to die in the council meeting for failing to fulfill the promise as the people in the ward had been demanding him execute the unfulfilled civic works
