Bhongir MP slams Bandi Sanjay for ‘divisive rhetoric’, failure to bring funds to Telangana

Hyderabad: Bhongir Member of Parliament, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy (Congress), launched a scathing attack on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay, accusing him of habitually making politically and religiously divisive statements and failing to secure crucial funds for Telangana’s development.

The strong criticism comes in the wake of the recent Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election and the allegations made by MP Bandi Sanjay.

Bandi Sanjay remarks

MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy directed a series of pointed criticisms at Bandi Sanjay’s recent remarks, urging Hindus to unite as a ‘single vote bank’ and framing the Jubilee Hills bypoll as a ‘Dharmayudh’ or a ‘war between Hindus and Muslims’.

Bandi Sanjay's actions that drew the criticism:

Making Communal Appeals: Publicly calling for Hindus to form a united vote bank and characterising the election as a religious war, which Congress alleges is a deliberate attempt to create conflict between castes and religions.

Focusing on division over development: Constantly focusing his public speeches on issues of caste and religion instead of development, which MP Reddy stated is unbecoming of a Union Minister.

The Bhongir MP’s comments focused on two main areas: the state of politics following the Jubilee Hills result and the Central government’s cooperation with the Telangana government on development projects.

On divisive politics and election results: “It has become a habit for Bandi Sanjay to speak on caste and communal lines, forgetting that he holds the position of a Union Minister.”

“Bandi Sanjay must clarify to the people whether the BJP secretly supported the BRS party,” he said.

“If Bandi Sanjay himself does not know whether they supported BRS or not, he should discuss it internally within the party,” he added.

On the Jubilee Hills bypoll

“BJP’s vote share decreased in the by-election compared to the Assembly elections. Naveen Yadav did not win the Jubilee Hills by-election solely with the votes of one caste or one religion; people from all sections voted,” MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said.

“In his public administration, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy gave the ticket to a BC candidate, and the people welcomed it. Bandi Sanjay is creating conflicts between castes and religions. People know who to vote for in the state,” he added.

Funds for development

Speaking on Telangana’s development and funds needed for it, “Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay should work to bring funds to Telangana. They should put pressure on PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.”

“To ensure Telangana’s development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is repeatedly visiting Delhi and meeting Union Ministers. We must protect Telangana from what was plundered tyrannically by previous rulers,” he said.

“The Central government must cooperate on Hyderabad Metro expansion, the RRR project, and the rejuvenation of the Musi River. In the upcoming Parliament sessions, Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay must take initiative to secure the funds due to Telangana,” the MP said.
