Bihar polls live updates: Trends show NDA getting ahead after a slow start

After lagging behind in early counting, NDA has closed the gap with Mahagathbandhan after the trend of all 243 assembly seats came out.

10:15 pm: NDA is leading by 123 seats while grand alliance is leading by 113 votes.











5:30 pm: NDA is leading in 119 seats, the grand alliance is leading in 114 seats. RJD is leading on 75 seats while BJP is leading on 70 seats.


5:25 pm: CPI-M candidate from Manjhi, Satyendra Yadav and CPI-M candidate from Bibhutipur, Ajay Kumar won the election. In 2015, CPI-M has not won a single seat.


5:14 pm: Former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi who was chief minister for 9 months won the election. He is the president of Hindustani Awam Morcha and part of NDA alliance.


5:11 pm: Sandip Saurav, the candidate from Paliganj who was the general secretary of JNUSU and contesting on the ticket of CPI-ML and also the general secretary of AISA won the election.


5:10 pm: The gap between NDA and the grand alliance is shrinking. NDA is leading in 124 seats while the grand alliance is leading in 110 seats.

4: 47 pm: NDA wins 9 seats out of 10 in Darbhanga district. It is noted that Prime Minister Modi has campaigned in Darbhanga.


4:42 pm: BJP is leading in 78 seats, RJD is leading in 71 seats, JDU is leading in 41 seats and Congress is leading in 21 seats.


4:40 pm: NDA is leading 123 seats, while grand alliance is leading on 109 seats.




4:35 pm: Plurals party chief Pushpam Priya Chowdhary has secured only 1272 votes. BJP candidate Nitin Nabin is leading with 21,404 votes. Film actor Shatrughan Sinha son, Luv Sinha who is contesting on Congress ticket has secured 9,041 votes.


4:34 pm: AIMIM four candidates are leading in Bihar election. AIMIM has filed total of 20 candidates in Bihar election.


4:30 pm: BJP candidate Bhagirathi Devi from Ramnagar wins the election, JDU candidate from Gopalpur Narendra Kumar Dubey also wins the election.

3:17 pm: Lalan Yadav, RJD candidate from Sahebpur Kamal wins the election, Pankaj Mishra JDU candidate from Runnisaidpur also wins the election. BJP candidate Ranu Devi from Bettiah wins the election.


3:15 pm: Rashmi Verma, candidate of BJP from Narkatiyaganj wins the election.


3:13 pm: Congress candidate, Bijendra Chowdhary from Muzaffarpur wins the election. Anant Singh, RJD candidate from Mokama wins the election.


2:27 pm: Plurals party chief Pushpam Priya Chowdhary who made a grand entry in Bihar election has secured 751 votes in Bankipur assembly constituency.





2:15 pm: The grand alliance is lagging far behind the BJP led NDA alliance. Since 10 am in the morning, NDA is least 20 seats ahead of Mahagathbandhan. BJP led alliance is leading on 128 seats while RJD led alliance is leading on 104 seats. Currently, BJP is the single largest party with 74 seats. while JD9U) is leading on 48 seats. RJD is leading on 64 seats.

The left parties are doing fairly better than Congress. Out of 19 seats, CPI-ML is leading in 13 seats while out of 10 seats CPI & CPI-M is leading on 6 seats.


1:40 pm: The grand alliance is not able to catch with NDA. The BJP led alliance is still above the winning mark of 122. The alliance is leading in 130 seats while the Mahagathbandhan is leading in 102 seats. BJP is leading in 74 seats, JD(U) is leading in 50 seats. RJD is leading in 64 seats while Congress is leading in 20 seats. CPI-ML is leading in 12 seats while CPI and CPIM are leading in 7 seats.

The election commission said that they have counted around 1 crore votes till 1 pm. 4.2 crore is the total number of votes polled in Bihar election. They also said that the counting can go till late night.


1:10 pm: The grand alliance is slipping way below the expectation which was shown in the Exit Polls. Mahagathbandhan is leading only in 104 seats while NDA is leading in 129 seats. Other parties are leading in 10 seats. AIMIM is leading in 3 seats. The voting percentage of AIMIM has also increased. The Simanchal area in northeast Bihar has 70 per cent of the Muslim population which has favoured AIMIM.

Till 1 pm, according to election commission around 25 per cent votes have been counted in the state. Lalu Yadav elder son Tej Pratap is leading in Hasanpur constituency while the younger son and grand alliance leader Tejshwi Yadav is leading in Raghopur seats.


12:50 pm: BJP led alliance is hovering ahead of halfway mark of 122. NDA is leading with 128 seats while RJD led Mahagathbandhan alliance is leading in 103 seats while other parties are leading in 12 seats. AIMIM is leading in 3 seats. though NDA is leading ahead of Mahagathbandhan, chief minister Nitish Kumar JD(U) party has lost around 20 seats. In 2015 election JD(U) has won 71 seats while the trends show the party is leading only in 49 seats.


12:30 pm: NDA leads in 126 seats in Bihar while Mahagathbandhan is leading by 102 seats and others 15. BJP is leading in 71 seats, JDU is leading in 50 seats. RJD is leading 59 seats, Congress 25 seats. The left parties are showing the highest strike rate leading in 19 seats out of 29 seats. CPI is leading in 3 seats out of 6 seats, CPIM is leading in all 4 seats and CPI-ML is leading in 13 seats out of 19.

According to Election commission, 13 per cent counting has been done till 12:30 pm.

11:45 am: NDA moves ahead of the Mahagathbandhan with more than 30 seats. NDA leads on 132 seats while Mahagathabandhan leads in seats. other parties are leading on 13 seats. In 28 constituency, less than 500 votes difference among nearest candidates.


According to the Election Commission, total votes polled in Bihar is approximately 4.2 crore. Votes counted till 12 pm on ECI website is 55 lakh. This means an average of 22723 votes per assembly constituency has been counted out of an average of 1.73 lakh votes polled per assembly constituency.


So far, 5 Rounds of counting has been completed in Bihar. 50 lakh Votes have been counted and 20 more rounds of counting ahead.






11:15 am: NDA leads in 130 seats, while Mahagathbandhan leads in 100 seats. Tejashwi Yadav leads in Raghopur constituency.


11:05 am: NDA leads with 131 seats, while Mahagathbandhan slips to 98 seats. BJP is getting 71 seats while JD(U) is getting 61 seats.



10:45 am:
The trends show NDA is getting Majority with 129 seats while Mahagathbandhan slips to 98 seats.





After lagging behind in early counting, NDA has closed the gap with Mahagathbandhan after the trend of all 243 assembly seats came out.

At 10:35 am, NDA is on 119 seats while Mahagathbandhan is lagging behind NDA with 108 seats.

Early in the trends, NDA was 40 seats behind the Mahagathbandhan.

Lok Janshakti Party is leading on 10 seats while other parties also leads in 6 seats.
