By Nikisha Uddagiri Published on 5 April 2023 8:45 AM GMTTelangana: In a turn of events revolving around the arrest of BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay, the IPS Association of Telangana has written to the assembly speaker to take necessary action against BJP Dubbaka MLA Raghunandan Rao.
In a media interaction, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao called Telangana DGP āBihar Gundaā. In a video that has now gone viral, the BJP MLA has accused Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar of acting on behalf of Chief Minister K ChandraShekar Rao government. Bandi Sanjay Kumar was arrested in a midnight operation. BJP alleged that he was arrested without any valid reason. They claim that the arrest is an attempt to divert attention from the exam paper scam and Chief Minister KCR's proposal to finance non-BJP parties through Backward Regions Grant Fund Scheme (BRGF).
On April 5th, when BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao was on his way to meet the arrested president Bandi Sajay, he was detained by cops. While addressing a press interaction, the legislator made the comment.
The IPS association in a statement said, āWe condemn the comments made by BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao against DGP Anjani Kumar. The association has called the remarks irresponsible and highly derogatory and has requested the Speaker of the Telangana Assembly to take disciplinary action against Rao.
Statement:
Such remarks are unbecoming of a legislator and the use of unparliamentary language against a senior government official is unhealthy in a democratic setup. The association further stated that such disparaging remarks can demoralize the entire police force of Telangana, which works tirelessly to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in the state.
The comments were made by Rao about the preventive arrest of BJP MP Bandi Sanjay by the Karimnagar police. The incident has sparked outrage among political circles, with the BJP accusing the state government of targeting its leaders. The police have stated that Sanjay was detained as part of an ongoing investigation, but the exact charges against him have not been revealed.
Karimnagar police took Bandi Sanjay Kumar into preventive custody in connection with the SSC Hindi question paper leak; he was later arrested. Karimnagar police picked him up from his residence after midnight. He was shifted to the BommalaRamaram police station in Yadadri Bhongir district. Police have accused him of being involved in the SSC Hindi examination question paper leak. Within half an hour of the SSC exam, pictures of the question paper were circulating on WhatsApp groups. It started in Warangal and later spread across the state.
