BRS unveils ‘Congress Debt Card’ to highlight unkept promises

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday launched a new campaign titled the “Congress Debt (Baaki) Card” to accuse the ruling Congress of failing to deliver on its election guarantees.

The movement, unveiled at Telangana Bhavan by BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), seeks to present what the party calls a “ledger of broken promises” to the people of Telangana.

Counter to Congress Guarantee Card

Calling the initiative a counter to the Congress’ “Guarantee Card,” KTR said the ruling party’s pledges had turned into “debts owed to citizens.” BRS leaders and cadres will distribute these cards door-to-door across the state in Telugu, Urdu, and English.

KTR reminded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had promised to give legal sanctity to guarantees in the first cabinet meeting. “Even after 30 cabinet meetings, not one promise has been implemented,” he alleged.

List of “Congress Debts”

KTR outlined several promises that he said remain unfulfilled:

Farmers: Rs 15,000 per acre support, Rs 2 lakh loan waiver, and Rs 500 paddy bonus – not delivered

Tenant Farmers & Agri Labourers: Rs 15,000 and Rs 12,000 assistance – unpaid

Jobs & Allowances: 2 lakh government jobs and Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment allowance – not implemented

Women: Rs 2,500 monthly Mahalakshmi support, Kalyana Lakshmi aid for 8 lakh marriages, scooters for students – pending

Pensions: Rs 4,000 for elderly/widows and Rs 6,000 for disabled – partially unmet

Youth & Poor: Rs 5 lakh education assurance cards, Indiramma housing, 250 sq. yard plots for activists, Rs 24,000 for auto drivers – not delivered

Gruhajyothi scheme: “Not implemented properly,” he said.

Warning to citizens

KTR cautioned that if people “fall into the trap again,” even schemes like Rythu Bandhu may be scrapped under Congress rule. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka of dishonouring the bond papers and promissory notes they signed before elections.

BRS vows relentless Opposition

Accusing the Congress government of “vindictive politics” by foisting false cases on BRS leaders, KTR declared: “We will fight legally in courts and politically among the people. No amount of harassment will silence us.” He reiterated that BRS would continue its campaign until “every unkept promise is either fulfilled or exposed as fraud.”
