Revanth Reddy alleged a number of drawbacks in the implementation of the scheme, including the lack of basic facilities in schools

He said that the government has neither provided the kitchen facilities needed for the mid-day meal scheme nor has resolved the demands of the mid-day meal workers.
Addressing the CM in an open letter on Saturday, Revanth Reddy alleged a number of drawbacks in the implementation of the scheme, including the lack of basic facilities in schools, non-payment of bills to mid-day meal workers, non-payment of cooking maintenance expenses in accordance with increased prices and non-supply of gas cylinders forcing cooking to be done on firewood stoves.
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president said that āthe good intention of providing nutritious food besides increasing the attendance of students in government schoolsā is not enough for the scheme to become a success.
On October 6, the BRS government launched the Chief Ministerās Breakfast Scheme across the state in select schools. The scheme would be extended to all government-run schools soon. A first-of-its-kind public project in the state, it is said to benefit 23 lakh students in 27,147 government and panchayat raj schools. The scheme was launched at a cost of around Rs 400 crore.
