Ongole: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy began the distribution of registered conveyance deeds to 31.19 lakh poor women beneficiaries under the Navratanalu Pedalandariki Illu scheme. On Friday, he distributed these deeds to 20,840 impoverished women, granting them full rights and sanctioning houses within the Ongole Municipal Corporation limits.

“I am very proud and happy to announce that we have been able to fulfil the dreams of lakhs of poor women who always wanted to own a house! For the first time ever, we are distributing registered conveyance deeds for houses allocated to the poor, providing them with full property rights on the house plots. The YSRCP government has expedited the registration process through village/ward secretariats in the state, all of which will be done for free,” CM Jagan said.

Basic amenities to be upgraded in Jagananna Housing Layouts

Explaining the details of the scheme, CM Jagan said, “The government spent Rs 210 crores and procured 536.11 acres of land from Malleshwarapuram, N Agraharam, Yerrajerla and Vengamukkalapalem areas for the house sites and will be spending another Rs 21.33 crores for developing basic amenities in Jagananna Housing Layouts.”

“We initiated this exercise to grant full property rights to the poor and ensure justice is not reserved only for the elite,” he informed the gathering of beneficiaries and officials.

Beneficiaries speak about scheme

After receiving the free house sanction letter, a woman beneficiary, Lalitha Maunika, thanked CM Jagan and said, “Poor people like us used to think that the dream of owning a house was impossible but today, CM Jagan has proved us wrong. He has fulfilled the dreams of many people by providing the house sites and house titles to us without any cost. He has made us all millionaires today. Words will never be able to express the joy that we are experiencing today!”

Another beneficiary, Siva Parvathi, a resident of the 32nd ward in Ongole, said, “I have been living in Ongole for the past 20 years and didn’t have my own house. However, during the Gadapa GadapaKu Mana Prabhutvam programme, MLA Balineni Srinivas assured me that one day I will own a house. Today, CM Jagan has fulfilled my wish by making me the owner of a house worth Rs 6 lakhs.”

‘Chandrababu filed 1,191 court cases to stop YSRCP government’

Reminding the people about the roadblocks he faced in implementing the scheme, CM Jagan lambasted the TDP chief and said, “Chandrababu Naidu and his men tried to file not one or two but 1,191 court cases to prevent us from distributing house sites to the poor in the state.”

“Chandrababu shamelessly filed cases against the government for distributing house sites to the poor in Amaravati, citing that the move will lead to demographic imbalance,” he added.
