CM Revanth accuses KCR of neglecting Palamuru, says BRS projects plagued with delays, mismanagement
Jadcherla: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy again attacked former CM K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the Palamuru district. CM Revanth called the occasion of ‘Praja Palana - Pragathi Bata’ an emotional moment and emphasised his deep connections with the Palamuru region.
‘Looked down by KCR’
CM Revanth accused KCR of looking down upon the Palamuru district and neglecting it.
He said, ‘Palamuru district was looked down upon by KCR. Even without a village in Palamuru, or speaking up in Parliament, it was Palamuru district that sent KCR to Parliament.” He challenged KCR’s former minister, Niranjan Reddy, to explain what KCR had given back to the people of Palamuru, who had held him close to their hearts.
Blistering critique of KCR’s tenure
The chief minister questioned KCR’s inaction on critical issues during his decade-long rule.
“Why did KCR, who was CM for 10 years, not help the displaced as per GO 98?” Reddy demanded, further accusing KCR of deceiving the Valmiki community by promising to recognise them as ST Boyas. He asserted that had these issues been resolved in the last 10 years, the people of Palamuru wouldn’t be fighting for them again.
The CM directly addressed KCR’s alleged distress over the current administration’s Praja Palana. “Does it pain you that CM Revanth, a son of Palamuru, became CM?” he asked, continuing with pointed questions: “Does it pain you that a Young India Residential School is being built on 25 acres for children from weaker sections? Does it pain you that a son of Palamuru is striving to be chief minister for 20 years? Does it pain you that the Madiga sub-castes have been classified, after 40 years of struggle by Madiga children? Did tears well up in your eyes because Madiga children are now getting an education just like your son and grandson?”
Project delays and development promises
The chief minister heavily criticised KCR for the stalled irrigation projects in Palamuru.
“KCR put Palamuru projects on hold for 10 years. Why didn’t he complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy, Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu and Bhima projects in 10 years?” he questioned, contrasting this with the alleged failure of the Kaleshwaram project.
“The Kaleshwaram project he built for one lakh crores collapsed within three years,” CM Revanth claimed.
He then outlined his government’s plan: “We are moving forward with plans to complete the projects you left pending for ten years, within the next two years.” Reddy expressed frustration at the perceived negativity from the opposition, asking, “Why do you harbour so much venom and spread it against us?” He accused Srinivas Goud and Niranjan Reddy of ‘carrying water for that thief (KCR)’ instead of appreciating the ongoing development.
Fulfilling Promises: Power, farmers, and women empowerment
CM Revanth strongly refuted claims that Congress rule would lead to power shortages.
“They said there would be no power if Congress came to power, but we are providing 24-hour free electricity to farmers,” he stated, emphasising, “Free power is a Congress patent; Congress brought it, and Congress is continuing it.”
He highlighted his government’s initiatives for farmers: “We are buying every grain of paddy by giving a bonus. It’s our achievement that we waived farmer loans worth Rs 21,000 crores in the very first year. Didn’t we give Rythu Bharosa of Rs 9,000 crores to farmers in 9 days?” Reddy asserted that the happiness of Telangana farmers was the sole reason for KCR’s alleged sorrow.
The chief minister spoke about women’s empowerment and listed several initiatives:
- Promoting self-help groups and providing them with loans.
- Entrusting school management to women through Amma Adarsha schools.
- Establishing Indira Mahila Shakti canteens in government offices to encourage women in business.
- Encouraging women to set up solar plants and petrol banks, enabling them to compete with Ambani and Adani.
- Spending Rs 6,500 crores in 18 months to provide free travel for women in RTC buses and making women owners of a thousand RTC buses.
Job creation and future vision
On job creation, CM Revanth announced, “We have completed 60,000 government job recruitments in the first year itself. It is our responsibility to fill one lakh jobs within two and a half years.”
He reiterated his commitment to educational infrastructure, stating, “We will complete the construction of the Young India Integrated Residential School here within one and a half years. I will come back here to inaugurate the school.”
Concluding his speech with a powerful statement, CM Revanth declared, “KCR, write it on your heart: this son of Palamuru will remain the chief minister of the State until 2034. He will run the government from the land of Palamuru.”
Appeal to Andhra Pradesh CM
In a significant appeal, CM Revanth urged Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu not to obstruct the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.
“I request Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu not to hinder our Palamuru-Rangareddy project,” he said. “Please be responsible; let us live.” He further requested Naidu to act generously by cancelling the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project.
“If you don't cooperate, we will make appeals. If our appeals are not heard, the children of Palemooru know how to fight,” Reddy warned, concluding with a resolute pledge: “Even if the sun rises here (in Palamuru), we will develop Palamuru.”
