CM Revanth: Politicians should reduce influence of money; encourage student politics
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy underscored the need to reduce the influence of money in the political system in the country. The chief minister expressed serious concern over the increasing dominance of management politics in the place of the ideological political system.
Unfortunate trend of āSwiggy politicsā
Participating in the ICFAI - Capital Foundation Society - S Jaipal Reddy Memorial Award function here, the CM said that money is controlling the political system and its consequences pose a lurking danger to society. The unfortunate trend of āSwiggy politicsā is the order of the day in the country, the CM said.
Stating that there is an urgent need to promote student politics in universities to generate capable leaders for the country in the future, CM Revanth Reddy said that the role of party activists was also being neglected, and it could be a big risk to sustain the ideological politics.
Opposition parties must make constructive suggestions
The chief minister emphasised that the opposition parties should make constructive suggestions, and his government is ready to invite them. No opposition member was suspended from the Assembly since he became chief minister, which was part of his efforts to encourage opposition to come forward with good suggestions.
Remembering Jaipal Reddy
Recalling the yeoman services rendered by Jaipal Reddy to the country, the CM said that the veteran leader left an indelible mark on Indian politics as the best Parliamentarian.
Further, the chief minister said Jaipal Reddy played a key role in getting the Telangana Bill passed in the Parliament without any debate.
Sonia Gandhi had also acknowledged Jaipal Reddyās role in the formation of Telangana, the CM said. He said that Telangana would not have been formed if Jaipal Reddy had not been present in the Parliament. The CM remembered the national leaderās initiative of introducing many reforms during his stint as Petroleum minister and saw to the implementation of the Prasar Bharati Act.
Jaipal Reddy began his political career as a student leader.
He was first elected as an MLA from the Kalwakurthi constituency in 1969. Jaipal Reddy served as an MLA four times, Lok Sabha MP five times, Rajya Sabha member (two times) and Union minister.
Jaipal Reddy used to think about bringing changes in the administration. When he was an MLA, the veteran leader recognised the importance of power supply in Kalvakurthy and paved the way for its development and also made efforts to reduce the influence of money in politics.
The chief minister highlighted that Jaipal Reddy also had no personal enmity with anyone and never changed parties for posts. The national leader quit and joined Congress on ideological differences only, the CM said. He said Jaipal Reddy was a towering personality in Indian politics. The CM asserted that Telangana politics should be inspired by former prime minister PV Narsimha Rao and Jaipal Reddy.
