Congress blasts Modi over ‘Muslim League imprint’ remark on manifesto
Supriya Shrinate said that ‘Congress manifesto has created panic in the BJP and the PM is hassled and scared'.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 April 2024 11:56 AM GMTNew Delhi: The Congress on Monday tore into prime minister Narendra Modi for saying that the (Congress) party manifesto has an imprint of the Muslim League.
“It has the imprint of the aspirations and hope of lakhs and crores of people whom the party leadership met during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” the party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, said, while remarking, it has not been made while ‘sitting in a room at the recommendations of two capitalist cronies.’
Supriya reminded Modi that such language does not behove him, as he is not just the BJP campaigner but also the prime minister of the country, which has a certain dignity, which ought to be maintained at all costs.
‘BJP scared of Congress manifesto’
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, Supriya Shrinate said that ‘Congress manifesto has created panic in the BJP and the PM is hassled and scared.’
Shrinate maintained that the Congress manifesto was the talk of the town and had caught the imagination of the masses across the country and this had made the PM and the BJP feel rattled and the PM has taken recourse to his old resort of divisive politics by raising the Hindu-Muslim bogey.
‘BJP and Muslim League are linked’
She said, the prime minister’s ‘deep love and affection for the Muslim League’ had historic and ancestral reasons as the BJP’s ideological ancestors were running governments along with the Muslim League in provinces like Bengal, Sindh and North West Frontier Province when Congress was fighting for the freedom of the country and Mahatma Gandhi had called for the Quit India Movement in 1942.
The Congress spokesperson observed, that Modi was rattled as the experts, economists and people at large have started saying that the Congress manifesto is a blueprint for the future of the country with a comprehensive vision.
‘Where is the report card?’
Shrinate said that since Modi did not have any report card of his achievements after being in power for 10 years he has once again resorted to the same clichéd Hindu-Muslim script. She challenged the Prime Minister to mention one single achievement during the last 10 years based on which he could ask for votes.
Maintaining that the Congress manifesto has caught the popular imagination and was being positively discussed as a solution to the problems, Shrinate said, this has made the prime minister ‘so nervous, so scared, so afraid due to the prospects of defeat that looms large’, that he is once again making statements that make no sense.
She said, the Congress ‘Nyay Patra’ is the voice of India and has the solution to every problem that the Modi government has imposed on this country over the last 10 years. “Unemployment, inflation, economic inequality, problems of farmers, insecurity of women, all such issues have been addressed in the manifesto,” she pointed out.
