Congress: PM Modi’s Medak speech intended to polarise voters, EC must take action
Narendra Modi gave a public speech in Alladurgam in Medak District
By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 April 2024 2:26 PM GMTHyderabad: G Niranjan, TPCC senior vice president and chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India alleging multiple MCC violations by prime minister Narendra Modi during his public speech in Alladurgam in Medak District on Tuesday.
“He (PM Modi) attacked the Congress party and its leaders, right from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi,” Niranjan wrote in the letter sent to chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Niranjan has at least written four times to the commission against the alleged MCC violations by PM Modi.
Listing the various complaints against PM Modi’s speech in Medak, Niranjan said that the PM tried to exploit the people in the name of community and castes. “He also challenged that as long as he is alive he will not allow for the Muslim reservations. He blamed the Nehru family and even while posing as a protector of the Constitution failed to abide by the rules of the Model Code of Conduct,” said Niranjan.
What is MCC?
The Election Commission of India issued an election schedule for the Lok Sabha elections on March 16 and the Model Code of Conduct had come into force immediately. The EC advised all the political parties and candidates to strictly follow the MCC without violating it.
The political parties and their leaders are restricted from propagating against the opponents which may result in the polarisation of the political atmosphere. They should not use religion or religious places in their propaganda and should not create hatred among the people.
In response to our earlier complaints against PM Modi, the election commission issued a notice to BJP President JP Nadda expressing concern over the behaviour of BJP star campaigners. But it seems there is no effect on PM Modi as he is continuing his violations of MCC,” said Niranjan in his letter to EC. “Today, his speech is full of hatred and intended to create communal and caste differences among the people,” he added.
We request you (ECI) to seek a detailed report from the DEO Medak and to take action against PM Modi. Otherwise, it will lead to anarchy in the country, he added.
