The party also redefined KCR as `Kaleshwaram Corruption Raoā.
Congress workers have been actively informing the public about the BRS governmentās alleged missaproation of Rs 1,00,000 crore in the Kaleshwaram project.
This campaign was launched against the backdrop of recent reports of damage to the Kaleshwaram barrage at Medigadda
Leaders from both state and central Congress have consistently alleged that KCR and his family used the Kaleshwaram project as an 'ATM' to siphon off Rs 1 lakh crore.
On October 21, a small portion of a pillar of the bridge of the Lakshmi (Medigadda) barrage of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) showed signs of sinking. The project is said to be one of the prestigious projects of the BRS-led state government.
The pillars from 15 to 20 of the sixth to eighth blocks of the Medigadda (Laxmi) barrage of the Kaleswaram project had reportedly sunken on the night of October 21, 2023. Accordingly, in keeping with the provisions of the Dam Safety Act 2021, a committee was constituted with the following members to examine the reasons for the sinking of the piers of Medigadda (Lakshmi) Barrage.
Locals reported hearing a loud noise near the barrage and the authorities were alerted. It was later reportedly found that the sixth to eighth blocks of the barrage, between pillars 15 to 20, had sunk. The authorities immediately suspended the movement on the bridge connecting Maharashtra and Telangana, with vehicles rerouted to alternative roads.
Medigadda or Lakshmi Barrage, as it is known, was the first barrage under KLIP, connecting Telangana with Maharashtra, at Sironcha, with a total water storage capacity of 10.87 tmcft. Currently, it has 10.1 tmcft (thousand million cubic feet).
L&T, which built the 1.632-km-long Lakshmi Barrage (Medigadda) with 86 Piers in 2019, in a statement said its technical expert team has been deputed to the project site to assess the abrupt cause of the damage with the state authorities. "L&T will take necessary action to rectify the damage following a technical assessment," the infra major said, adding that a solution would be found at the earliest.
