Congress to field Mahesh Kumar Goud, Venkat Narsing Balmoor for by-election to Legislative Council in Telangana

New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday approved the proposal for the candidature of Mahesh Kumar Goud Bomma and Venkat Narsing Rao Balmoor as Congress candidates to contest by-election to the Legislative Council of Telangana to be elected by the MLAs, said AICC general secretary KC Venu Gopal.

Mahesh Kumar Goud played a pivotal role in coordinating the party cadre and leaders while he served as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president (organisation). Goud also tried to contest the recent Assembly elections in Telangana from Nizamabad urban. However, he had to renounce his seat as TPCC president A Revanth Reddy contested from Kamareddy.

Venkat Narsing Rao Balmoor, popularly known as Balmoori Venkat contested on behalf of the Congress in the Huzurabad by-poll in 2022. He served as National Student Union of India(NSUI) State president.
