Congress War Room: Cooperate with police, TS HC tells political strategist Sunil Kanugolu

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed Sunil Kanugolu, Telangana Congress' political strategist, to appear before the ACP cyber crimes, CCS Hyderabad on 8 January and cooperate with the police investigation. Further, the court refused to stay the 41A CrPC notice against Mr. Kanugolu.

Justice K. Surender of the Telangana High Court passed orders in the criminal petition filed by Mr. Kanugolu seeking to quash 41A CrPC notice issued against him in the Congress War Room case by the cyber crimes police station, CCS Hyderabad.

The alleged investigation is against the "Comedy Scoop Video" which surfaced on the Facebook page 'Telangana Galam.' It showed photos of Chief Minister KCR, MLC Kavitha, and minister K.T Rama Rao morphed with the photographs of comedians, thereby projecting them in a bad light.

Further, Mr. Kanugolu is also in charge of the "Congress War Room" set up at Inorbit Mall, Madhapur which is uploading defamatory content against the BRS party in view of the upcoming general elections.

The cyber crime police, CCS whisked away three workers—Ishan and two other techies—responsible for sending inappropriate content against the BRS party on social media platforms and later, issued notices against them under section 41A of the CrPC.

The judge further directed the cyber crime police not to take any coercive steps against Mr. Kanugolu and not to harass him.
