Hyderabad: TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud today said the results of the second phase of the panchayat elections mark a decisive shift in Telangana’s rural political landscape, with Congress-backed candidates securing a majority of sarpanch posts across the state.
He described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the Congress government’s governance and welfare-oriented approach.
Clear mandate from rural electorate
Expressing satisfaction over the results, Goud said the people’s verdict was a strong reflection of the confidence reposed by rural voters in the performance of the Congress government. The outcome, he noted, demonstrated widespread approval of the policies and programmes implemented over the last two years.
Panchayat Polls treated as a priority
The TPCC president said the Congress had accorded the Panchayat elections the highest importance. Coordinated efforts by ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local leaders, combined with a well-planned campaign strategy executed down to the village level, played a key role in the party’s decisive performance, he observed.
Welfare and Development drive success
Goud also said that the results mirrored the aspirations of rural communities and highlighted their satisfaction with Congress governance. He said the people-centric welfare and development schemes implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had reached the grassroots effectively, which was clearly reflected in the election outcome.
Governance model builds confidence
He pointed out that a governance model balancing welfare and development had strengthened public confidence. The government’s focus on identifying village-level issues and resolving them on a continuous basis worked in favour of the Congress, he said.
Field-Level engagement pays off
The TPCC president credited the field-level tours undertaken by the Chief Minister and ministers, along with decisions taken directly after engaging with the public, for reinforcing rural voters’ trust. This approach of direct interaction and problem-solving, he added, had further strengthened the party’s grassroots base.
Support across social sections
Mahesh Goud further said the emphatic victory symbolised public approval for the slogan of welfare, social justice, and development. He noted that strong support from minorities, Dalits, tribals, women, farmers, and youth indicated a new direction in rural governance, with social justice clearly reflected in the Panchayat election results.
New political culture in villages
Observing that rural voters had placed development and welfare at the centre of their decision-making, Goud said this signalled the emergence of a new political culture in Telangana. He assured that the Congress government would view the victory as a responsibility to further accelerate rural development.
Focus on strengthening Panchayat Raj
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the TPCC chief said strengthening the Panchayat Raj system and transforming every village into a hub of development would remain a top priority.
He added that the results of both phases of the Sarpanch elections reflected the positive environment created by welfare initiatives at the grassroots and would serve as a guiding force in strengthening the Congress in Telangana.
