Define BRS, new party has no agenda: Bandi Sanjay on KCRs national party

Hyderabad: On 5 October, Telangana Chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao declared his foray into national politics by announcing that his party Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) will now be known as Bharat Rastra Samithi (BRS). The move received unanimous approval from the TRS members at the party's general body meeting held on 5 October at Telangana Bhavan here.

TRS, the party that was formed to achieve statehood for Telangana, will now enter the political corridors of Delhi with the main motive of defeating the ruling Bharatiya Janata party. In response to this, BJP MP Bandi Sanjay held a press meeting at the BJP state office in Hyderabad on Thursday.

"KCR announced the formation of a new political party yesterday (Wednesday). We live in a democracy. We welcome anyone presenting a national party, but KCR should define Bharat Rastra Samithi. The newly-formed party has no flag or agenda," the BJP Karimnagar MP said. He inquired about the reasons for announcing the national party and alleged that KCR intends to make his son CM and himself the new party's leader. "The BJP is here to expose KCR and his party's shortcomings," Bandi Sanjay said.

When asked if the new party will succeed, the BJP MP said, "People are not prepared to accept KCR. How many people have remained loyal to the TRS party since it was founded? Following the name change, KCR should resign as CM and run for re-election. He should find out how many people will vote for him again."

Responding to KCR's remarks that a Telangana model is required for the country, the BJP MP said, "There is not a single female minister in your (KCR's) Cabinet. You stood against the woman presidential candidate we nominated. Dalits and disadvantaged classes were duped in the state. Today, in Telangana, there is no secretariat. You stay at your farmhouse." He added, "Working out of Pragati Bhavan, not meeting anyone. Is this the Telangana model?"

Dismissing the newly-formed national party, Bandi Sanjay said, "TRS is similar to fraud companies that change their names when they are neck-deep in losses. He has mastered the art of plundering the state and now wishes to loot the country!"
