Ghar Wapsi: 4 time former MLA Nirmal Singh returns to Congress in Haryana
Singh would be suitably accommodated in the party as he had been duly assured by the party high command
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 Jan 2024 3:44 AM GMTNew Delhi: Ahead of the 2024 elections, Congress received a boost in Haryana after four-time former MLA Nirmal Singh returned to the party after resigning from the Aam Aadmi Party. He joined the party along with his daughter Chitra Sarwara, a former general secretary of the All India Mahila Congress.
Both were inducted into the party at the AICC headquarters here today in the presence of the Congress general secretary in charge for Haryana Dipak Babaria, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, PCC president Udai Bhan, MP Deepender Singh Hooda, and others.
Hailing Nirmal Singh and Chitra Sarwara for their āhome returnā, Babaria described them as committed soldiers of the Congress party. He pointed out, that both Singh and Sarwara had a long and deep association with the Congress.
Welcoming them back to the party, Hooda said Nirmal Singh had Congress DNA. He recalled his long association with Singh from the 1970s when both of them were in the Youth Congress.
The former Haryana Chief Minister said it was important for everyone to strengthen the Congress to save the democracy in the country. He said with the joining of Singh and Sarwara, Congress will be strengthened both in Haryana as well as at the national level.
He said that Singh would be suitably accommodated in the party as he had been duly assured by the party high command.
Speaking on the occasion Udai Bhan said, Singh is the thirty-seventh former legislator/minister who has joined the Congress in Haryana during the last one and a half years. He said this indicated how strong the Congress party was getting in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh and Sarwara expressed their gratitude to the party leadership both at the national level and at the state level for giving them a chance to āreturn homeā to the Congress party.
They said they were grateful to the party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Dipak Babaria, Hooda, and Bhan for welcoming them back to the party.
They assured that they would work with all dedication and commitment to strengthen the party in the state.
