Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today revealed that technology played a decisive role in exposing the truth behind the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
He asserted that it was tools like Google Takeout that helped investigators solve the case.
Speaking at the AI4AndhraPolice Hackathon 2025 in Guntur, Naidu said, āI was wrongfully accused, and many labeled it a āblood-stained history.ā But technology unearthed the truth. Even today, some continue to back criminals and then play victim. The only way to counter such lies is through technology.ā
AP targets zero crime rate with AI
Highlighting the importance of technology in policing, Naidu called on the Andhra Pradesh Police to aim for a zero-crime state using AI tools. āPeace and security are the foundations for investment and development. During my earlier tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, I prioritised these aspects for progress. Now, technology must be used to transform policing,ā he said.
Hackathon to boost police efficiency
The AI4AndhraPolice Hackathon was jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Police and four leading AI companies from the United States. Over 160 teams participated, presenting solutions to enhance investigations, improve departmental efficiency, and ensure faster crime detection. Naidu interacted with several of these teams, discussing how AI could strengthen policing in the state.
Moving away from traditional policing
The Chief Minister stressed that the time had come for the police to move away from traditional investigation methods. āWith drones and CCTV cameras, gathering evidence has become much easier. If rowdies cause trouble or if women are harassed, we will have video proof to act swiftly. No one will be allowed to cultivate, sell, or use marijuana freely,ā he said.
Youth must lead the technological revolution
Naidu also urged the youth to harness technology to build a progressive state. āIn the past, we promoted IT. Now, with Quantum Valley, we will showcase Telugu brilliance to the world, just as Silicon Valley in the US has done. The world is moving towards āWork Locally, Think Globally, Act Globally,ā and our youth must drive this vision,ā he said.
Union Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta were present at the event.
