Hyderabad: Criticizing the Congress government for its hypocrisy, former minister and BRS Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao dared Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to revoke the State government's Rs 12,400 crore contracts with Adani if he truly opposed corruption.

On Wednesday, Harish Rao called for the Assembly to hold an open discussion over the purported connections between industrialist Gautam Adani and Revanth Reddy.

In response to the Congress's "Chalo Raj Bhavan" protest, which included Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues and other leaders, the BRS MLAs staged an impromptu demonstration at the Assembly premises carrying placards and raising the slogans "Adani-Revanth Reddy Bhai Bhai."

Speaking to the media at the Assembly media point, Harish Rao called Revanth Reddy's anti-Adani protests a political circus and mocked them. He claimed that even though the chief minister publicly criticized Adani, his government enabled agreements and permits, such as allocating land for a cement factory in Ramannapet and holding public hearings under strict police supervision.

The BRS MLA also recalled that when the Chief Minister visited Davos, he made agreements with Adani Green for Rs 5,000 crore, in addition to Rs 1,000 crore for a defense project, Rs 1,400 crore for a cement factory, and Rs 5,000 crore for a data center project.

Revanth Reddy should immediately cancel those agreements if his words are true and sincere, he said, and added that failure to do so would reveal the Congress government's hypocrisy, he said.

In spite of Revanth Reddy's accusations that Adani was bringing dishonor to the nation, Revanth signed agreements with Adani that embarrassed Rahul Gandhi and Telangana. "You are acting as an Adani agent while feigning to combat corruption," Harish Rao said.

Referring to Congress's denial of BRS MLAs' right to demonstrate in the Assembly, the BRS MLA questioned the sincerity of Revanth Reddy's opposition to Adani, accusing him of employing deceptive strategies to evade scrutiny.

Asserting that the law should be applied equally to everyone, he also asked Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand to bring charges against those involved in a dharna at Raj Bhavan for obstructing traffic and causing inconvenience to the public.
