HC: Karne Sireesha claims threat to life on election trail, seeks security cover
During her campaign, she also said that she would bring transparency in recruitment and dole out welfare schemes to the youth, if elected
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 Nov 2023 2:58 AM GMTHyderabad: On Wednesday, Karne Sireesha alias Barrelakka, contesting in the ensuing Telangana State Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Kollapur Assembly Constituency in Nagarkurnool district requested the court to provide security cover (2+2 gunmen) for her. She claimed that there is a threat to her life from unknown persons even as she continues her campaigning.
Karne Sireesha, a resident of Marikal village in Nagarkurnool District, who became popular because of her YouTube videos, received widespread support for her election campaign in the form of donations. She has promised the unemployed youth in the state that she will set up a hospital and free coaching centres for the youth. During her campaign, she also said that she would bring transparency in recruitment and dole out welfare schemes to the youth, if elected.
The writ petition will come up for hearing before Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy on November 24.
The principal secretary of the Home Department; principal secretary of the Revenue Department; chief election commissioner of the Central Election Commission, New Delhi; chief election commissioner of the State Election Commission, TS; district collector of Nagarkurnool; superintendent of police of Nagarkurnool; and station house officer of Peddakothapally mandal, Nagarkurnool district are the respondents in the writ.
