Jagan accuses CM Naidu of scrapping Rythu Bharosa, neglecting benefits to 7 lakh AP farmers
Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of betraying the farming community by scrapping the Rythu Bharosa scheme and failing to deliver on pre-election promises.
‘Pre-Poll promises turned hollow’
In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Jagan alleged that CM Naidu’s assurances to farmers during the election campaign had seen ‘zero implementation’ since assuming office.
“CM Naidu is once again betraying farmers by dismantling the Rythu Bharosa scheme and going back on his pre-election promises,” he charged.
Comparison with YSRCP tenure
Highlighting the YSRCP government’s record, Jagan stated that under his tenure, Rs 13,500 was provided annually to each farmer, exceeding the party’s manifesto pledge. He said a total of Rs 34,288 crore had been disbursed in investment support despite financial constraints.
In contrast, he said CM Naidu had promised Rs 20,000 annually under the Annadata Sukhibhava–PM-KISAN scheme but has only paid Rs 5,000 over two years, excluding the Centre’s Rs 6,000 share.
‘Seven lakh farmers left out’
Jagan further alleged that nearly seven lakh eligible farmers were excluded from receiving benefits due to arbitrary eligibility criteria. Despite the Kharif season being in progress for over two months, not a single rupee had reached farmers, he claimed, adding that this had driven many into private debt.
Rollback of key support systems
The YSRCP chief also criticised the NDA coalition government for scrapping several farmer-centric initiatives such as the Price Stabilisation Fund, zero-interest loans and free crop insurance.
He accused the government of systematically weakening critical institutions like Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), e-crop registration, and soil testing labs.
Farmer suicides and lack of relief
Citing the alleged suicides of over 250 farmers due to declining state support, Reddy said even basic compensation had not been provided to the affected families. He condemned the government’s response as showing ‘inhumanity and a lack of empathy.’
