Jagan: Democracy under threat under CM Naidu, honest police officers harassed or denied postings
Amaravati: YSRCP president and former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the TDP-led NDA government, claiming that the YSRCP is the only party in Andhra Pradesh standing up for peopleās rights and exposing the governmentās failures.
āYSRCP fighting for all sectionsā
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Tadepalli, Jagan said his party is actively responding to the concerns of various sections, including farmers, women, unemployed youth, students and government employees.
āThe only remaining opposition party in the State is the YSRCP,ā he asserted.
āDemocracy under threatā
He alleged that democracy, law and order and the overall political environment have deteriorated under chief minister N Chandrababu Naiduās rule, with 143 election promises remaining unfulfilled.
āCM Naidu creating climate of fearā
Jagan claimed a climate of fear is prevailing in the State due to alleged conspiracies orchestrated by CM Naidu. He accused the government of deploying police to prevent people from attending his meetings and of filing cases against those who do.
Police being misused, says Jagan
He further alleged that CM Naidu is misusing the police force to obstruct the oppositionās programmes. Referring to recent resignations in the police department, Jagan cited the example of IPS officer Siddarth Kaushal, claiming that officers who do not align with the government are being harassed or denied postings.
āIf the police are strong, criminals will leave the State, but instead, good officers are leaving,ā he said, adding that no-objection certificates are being withheld for officials seeking deputation to Delhi.
DIGs turned into ācollection agentsā
Jagan also alleged that DIG-level officers are being used as ācollection agentsā to extract kickbacks from sectors such as sand and liquor, and that these funds are being funnelled to local MLAs, CM Naidu and minister Nara Lokesh.
Jagan sends a warning to CM Naidu and officials
Issuing a stern warning, Jagan said, āYour government may last another three years, after that, we will return. I am warning both you and the officials toeing your line by filing cases: you will pay back with interest. You will reap what you sow. Donāt forget this.ā
YSRCP to continue its fight
Concluding his press meet, the YSRCP chief asserted that his party will not be intimidated by the alleged fake cases filed against its leaders and cadres, and will continue fighting on behalf of the people. There was no immediate response fromthe TDP on Jaganās allegations.
