Jagan juggernaut continues in Andhra: YSRCP wins 98 ULBs; Naidu loses Kuppam

'Jagan wave' has swept across Andhra Pradesh after his YSRCP won 98 out of 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state.

Previously, the party had won 86 out of 87 ULBs that went to the polls earlier this year.

What comes as a major blow to the TDP and a humongous victory for the YSRCP is the yellow outfit dismally losing Chandra Babu Naidu's home constituency's Kuppam Municipal Corporation. The ruling party won in the Kuppam, Nellore, Akiveedu, Jaggayyapet, Kondapalli, Dachepalli, Gurazala, Buchireddypalem, Bethamcherla, Kamalapuram, Rajampet, and Penukonda municipal corporations.

YSRCP considered it as a referendum of unconditional support for the CM and his party. Since May 2019, the welfare schemes have been extended and developmental initiatives were undertaken on a large scale.

The 'Jagan' wave started with YSRCP backed candidates winning 10,536 panchayats out of 13,031, continued with the party securing a majority of 2,71,592 votes in the Tirupati by-election and winning 98% of ZPTCs and 86 % MPTCs. It seems to be unstoppable, The icing on the cake was the recent sweep in Badel.

Jagan hails Peddireddy, others for YSRCP win in Kuppam

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday congratulated Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy and district party leaders for the decisive victory in the Kuppam Municipal election.

Later, speaking to the media at the secretariat, the Minister said that the people of Kuppam have supported Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's governance, who took welfare to the doorstep of the beneficiary.

He said that YSRCP has won in all panchayat, parishad, and municipal polls in Kuppam, registering a landslide in Chandrababu Naidu's own constituency.

The Minister recalled that Chandrababu Naidu hijacked TDP from NTR and eventually withered it with his incompetence. He said that it is time that TDP must be handed over to the NTR family members and recommended Naidu should stay in Hyderabad after the series of defeats.

He stated that the people of Kuppam were offended by Nara Lokesh's words during his poll campaign and thus gave a fitting reply by rejecting TDP again.

He said that Lokesh couldn't win in his own constituency, while YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has become a competent Chief Minister. The Minister suggested Chandrababu contest from Punganur in case he doesn't want to stand from Kuppam in the coming elections.
