By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Jan 2023 12:22 PM GMTAmaravathi: TDP politburo member and former MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy answer why Andhra Pradesh has no representation in the globally renowned Davos summit being organised by the World Economic Forum.
Mr. Bonda Umamaheswara Rao told mediapersons at the party headquarters here that Jagan has understood that no investor will prefer Andhra Pradesh due to its ongoing destructive politics with which the ruling party is looting the state. āThis is the reason why Jagan did not take part in the investors summit at Davos,ā Mr. Rao said.
Observing that Andhra Pradesh was the centre of attraction for investors during the Chandrababu Naidu regime, the TDP politburo member said TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu made every effort to attract investors to the state by utilising every opportunity. But after Jagan came to power in 2019, the situation is totally different, he said, adding that the YSRCP government cancelled Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs. 16 lakh crores that were entered into during the Chandrababu Naidu regime.
Jaganās arrogance forced investors to rethink setting up units in the state due to which not even a single industry has been established in Andhra Pradesh in the past four years, Mr. Rao alleged. He asked whether Jagan has any reply to the statement made once by his own Cabinet minister, the late Mekapati Gowtham Reddy, that Rs. 5.17 lakh crores investments were made in the state during the TDP rule and employment was created for over five lakh youths. āThis is a written statement made on 10 July 2019 by the then minister for industries on the floor of the Legislative Council,ā he pointed out.
Jagan has no vision to attract investments and create employment for the youth and thus he is remaining silent though the International Investors Summit began at Davos on Monday,ā he further said.
Alleging that the Chief Minister wants the youth of the state to survive by selling beers and mutton, Mr. Rao demanded that Jagan tender an open apology to the people of the state, particularly the youth. The TDP politburo member also demanded that a white paper be published on how many industries were set up in the state in the past four years and how much employment was generated.
