Jubilee Hills bypoll: KTR begins campaign, accuses Congress of ‘unfulfilled promises’

Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday accused the Congress government of betraying the people of Telangana with unfulfilled promises and launched a ‘Congress Debt Card’ campaign to highlight what he called the ruling party’s ‘guarantee fraud.’

Door-to-door campaign in Jubilee Hills

During his tour of Shaikpet and Samatha Colony in Jubilee Hills constituency, KTR, accompanied by MLC Dasoju Sravan and BRS minority leaders, went door-to-door distributing ‘Congress Debt Cards.’ He explained to residents how, in his view, the Congress government had failed to deliver on its promises.

KTR was given a rousing reception by locals and BRS cadres, with large numbers of youth joining the campaign. Residents voiced concerns over sanitation lapses, sewage stagnation, frequent power cuts and mounting garbage.

KTR assured them he would take up their grievances with the government, while locals expressed faith in KCR’s leadership and confidence that the BRS would win the by-poll.

‘Promises in 100 days, not delivered in 700’

Addressing the media later, KTR lashed out at the Congress, saying, “They showed heaven in the palm to get votes, but even after 700 days, they haven’t delivered what they promised within 100 days.”

He alleged that each woman in Telangana had been denied nearly Rs 55,000 under the Rs 2,500-per-month scheme and that elderly citizens had lost Rs 44,000 under the Rs 4,000 pension promise. He also criticised the government for failing to provide scooters to students, while ‘looting the state’ instead.

By-poll is a golden chance to discipline Congress, says KTR

Calling the Jubilee Hills by-election a golden opportunity to ‘teach Congress a lesson,’ KTR urged voters to support BRS candidate Sunitha, wife of former MLA Maganti Gopinath. He asserted that people across communities continued to see KCR as their preferred Chief Minister.

KTR attacks Congress governance

KTR cited the grievances of Congress MLAs themselves, pointing to Mahabubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy’s writings on the lack of development funds and Ellareddy MLA Madan Mohan’s appeal to the World Bank for Rs 100 crore.

“These two examples alone show how bad Congress's governance is,” he remarked.

He also mocked ministers campaigning in Jubilee Hills as ‘tourist ministers’ who would disappear after elections, contrasting them with BRS leaders, whom he said ‘always stand by the people.’

Criticism of Future City project

Taking a swipe at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, KTR ridiculed his Future City initiative.

“When the present city is drowning in floods and people are suffering from mosquitoes, the CM is doing real estate business in the name of Future City,” he said.

He added that cancelling existing metro projects to announce new ones in undeveloped areas was proof of ‘foolish governance.’
