Congress leaders said that 40% of the items listed for indigenisation remain unindigenised as of now

New Delhi: Debunking "Modi-myths", Congress said the eleven years of NDA rule have been marked by ājumlasā and `fake newsā.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here today, Prof Rajeev Gowda, Chairman of the Research Department of the AICC, and Mahima Singh said that this government has been good only at propaganda and fake news and it was the duty of the Congress, the principal opposition party of the country to make people of India know the grim reality.
Countering the governmentās claim of providing free food to 81 crore people under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Gowda said, malnutrition remains a national crisis. He pointed out that Indiaās current ranking in the Global Hunger Index is 105 out of 127 countries. āHunger in India is classified as āseriousā in the Global Index,ā he said, while adding, one-third of Indian children are suffering from malnutrition.
Referring to the claims that the agriculture budget had increased by five times in 2025 as compared to 2013, the Congress leaders said it had little impact on farmersā overall welfare. They said, nearly 55 percent of Indiaās agricultural households were burdened with debt. āMore than 19 crore farmers owe over Rs 33 lakh crore to banksā, they added.āØ
Countering the government's claim that over 5,000 items were added to the defence indigenisation lists, the Congress leaders revealed that nearly 40% of the items listed for indigenisation remain unindigenised as of now.
Similarly, contradicting the governmentās claims that defence exports have reached an all-time high, the Congress leaders said India did not feature among the top 25 arms exporters.
On the governmentās claim of āhistoric decision to remove Article 370 and Article 35A from the Indian Constitution, the Congress leaders pointed out, ābetween 2019 and 2023, Jammu and Kashmir saw 579 terror attacks, resulting in the deaths of 168 civilians and 247 security personnel. They said the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists were killed, exposed the failure of the Union governmentās three-layer security.
On the governmentās claims that India was projected to be the worldās fastest-growing major economy, Prof Gowda and Mahima Singh said, āIndia's real GDP growth for FY 2024-25 was the slowest annual growth since the pandemic year 2020-21ā.
They said that in FY24, the fixed capital formation came down to 32.4% in FY 2024, which is an 11-year low.
Referring to gross economic disparities prevailing in the country, they said, while the top 1% control over 40% of wealth, the bottom 50% survive on just 3%. They said the government debt, including that of the states, has hit 83% of the GDP.
On the government's claims about rural road connectivity having reached 99 percent, the Congress leaders pointed out that an international study on the PM-Gram Sadak Yojana found that almost 500 all-weather roads listed as completed under the programme were never actually built.
