Kancha Gachibowli land row: TPCC chief Mahesh Goud says BRS looted costly govt assets, now obstructing growth
New Delhi: Hours after BRS president KT Rama Rao warned investors against purchasing land at Kancha Gachibowli and attacked chief minister A Revanth Reddy-led State government, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the party is ready to discuss the destruction of government property that took place during the BRS regime.
āBRS will become irrelevant soonā
Addressing the media on Thursday, he accused KTR of distributing government lands around Hyderabad to affiliated organisations at extremely low prices. He claimed that the BRS party was responsible for looting lands worth gold during its 10-year rule, leading to widespread resentment among the people of Telangana due to economic devastation and land mismanagement.
In response to KTRās statement of returning to power in three years, Goud asserted that KTR is merely daydreaming about regaining power in Telangana, predicting that the BRS party will no longer hold relevance in the Stateās political landscape by the next election. He also alleged that the BJP and BRS leaders are continuously obstructing Telanganaās development at every step.
Addressing the issue of the 400-acre land in Kancha Gachibowli, adjacent to Hyderabad Central University, he emphasised that they rightfully belong to the government. He recalled how, during Nara Chandrababu Naiduās tenure as CM, the lands were handed over to IMG Bharat, but the former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy fought in court to ensure they remained under government ownership. He accused opposition parties of spreading false propaganda with malicious intent regarding these lands.
Fair representation for BCs
Regarding BC reservations, Goud affirmed that the Congress is prepared to take a step back if necessary to ensure fair representation.
āCM Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet ministers are willing to go anywhere to advocate for BC reservations,ā he added.
Criticising the BJP, he stated that playing politics based on caste and religion has become its routine strategy. He expressed sadness over the country being governed through divisive politics and accused the BJP of conspiring against Telanganaās Muslim community.
He further pointed out that OBC reservations are applicable to Muslims even in Gujarat, the prime ministerās home State, and urged the Central government to legalize 42 per cent reservations, similar to Tamil Nadu.
On Cabinet expansion, Goud mentioned that all aspects are being carefully considered, and he personally appealed for ministerial posts to be given to two more BC leaders.
