Karimnagar: Police foil BJPs `Jana Jagarana Deeksha, arrest Bandi Sanjay

Karimnagar: Tension prevailed in Karimnagar on Sunday when Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar attempted to hold `Jana Jagarana Deeksha' at the party office.

The BJP demanded amendments to GO No 317 which they said was unjustified to the employees and teachers of the state. The BJP gave a call to hold Jana Jagana Deeksha by staying awake through the night till 5 am in the morning.

Police denied permission for holding Deeksha due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cops took the BJP activists, who arrived at the party office, into custody.

BJP President Bandi Sanjay began his Deeksha by closing the gates of the party office. He also criticized the police for not allowing them to offer Deeksha which they claimed was peaceful. He was later arrested by the police.

Sanjay also condemned the police for arresting party activists who are coming to participate in the Deeksha. Karimnagar City Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana said there was no permission for the Deeksha because of the COVID19 pandemic.

After his arrest, Sanjay continued his protest at the Manakondur police station.
