Kavitha announces Telangana Jagruthi’s political entry, vows to contest next Assembly elections

Hyderabad: MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla on Monday announced that Telangana Jagruthi, founded as a socio-cultural platform, will be transformed into a full-fledged political party and will contest the next elections.

Kavitha made the announcement on the floor of the Telangana Legislative Council during an emotional address, stating that the decision stemmed from a fight for self-respect and the need to build a new political platform for students, the unemployed and all sections of society.

Telangana Jagruthi to enter electoral politics

Calling it a decisive political turn, Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi would formally become a political party and emerge as a strong alternative in the State.

“This is not a fight over assets; it is a fight for self-respect. I am severing all bonds and coming to the people with the burden of humiliation,” she said and added that, while she was leaving the House as an individual, she would return as a political force.

Targeted and humiliated within the BRS, says Kavitha

Kavitha alleged that she was targeted and humiliated within the BRS after questioning corruption and the absence of internal democracy.

Recalling her tenure in the party, she said she worked sincerely in every role assigned to her but faced hostility the moment she raised uncomfortable questions.

“If there is no internal democracy within a party, how can it safeguard democracy in the State?” she asked.

No support during ED, CBI cases: Kavitha

The MLC claimed the party leadership failed to stand by her when she faced cases from Central agencies such as the ED and CBI. She alleged that the BJP acted out of hostility towards KCR, while her own party did not extend support during her legal battles.

Corruption allegations in public constructions

Kavitha levelled serious allegations of corruption in major public works undertaken during the BRS regime, including memorials and collectorate buildings.

“There was corruption everywhere, from Amaraveerula Stupam to collectorates. The Siddipet collectorate collapsed after just one spell of rain,” she alleged.

She further said her demands for pensions to Telangana movement activists were ignored and accused the party of failing to honour martyrs, while neglecting issues related to water, funds and employment.

Silence on Kaleshwaram

Referring to the Kaleshwaram project, Kavitha said she was the only one who spoke out when allegations surfaced.

“Not a single senior leader responded. I held a press meet, spoke firmly and named those involved in corruption,” she said.

Anguish over Bodhan Sugar Factory

Expressing personal anguish, Kavitha said her inability to revive the Bodhan Sugar Factory despite repeated efforts was deeply humiliating. She maintained that she had the courage to question even the top leadership on several issues affecting the State.

Kavitha promises a political platform for students and unemployed

Concluding her address, Kavitha said a new political platform would soon take shape to represent students, the unemployed and marginalised sections. “Telangana Jagruthi will become a political party, contest the next elections and grow into a powerful political force,” she asserted.
