Kavitha: Modi, Rahul Gandhi visiting Telangana is testament to power of BRS
“The very fact that big wigs like PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are coming to the state shows how strong the BRS is in Nizamabad,” she said

See the greenery, the improved canals, enjoy Ankapur chicken, witness the SRSP full of water and other important sites of progress and leave. But don’t disturb the peaceful atmosphere here,” said Kalvakuntla Kavitha, referring to the recent visits by senior politicians such as prime minister Narender Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as part of their campaigning for the upcoming Telangana State elections 2023.
Nizamabad MLC Kavitha is currently celebrating Bathukamma in the Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency. Earlier on Wednesday, she addressed the media in Bodhan. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Nizamabad as part of his three-day tour of Telangana.
During the press conference, Kavitha said that the people of Telangana are very much aware of the political situation in the state. She said people can see how chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao brought prosperity to Telangana State which was grappling with drought and several problems. “The very fact that big wigs like PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are coming to the state shows how strong the BRS is in Nizamabad,” she said.
Incomplete development
She alleged that the Congress party which ruled for 60 years could not provide even the basic amenities to the people. “In such a case how will the Congress party compete with the BRS?” she asked.
Comparing the development under Congress and the BRS, Kavitha said that the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) project which was started during the regime of the first prime minister and the great-grandfather of Rahul Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, was completed by the BRS government.
“The Congress party starts a project and keeps it pending for three generations but the BRS government led by CM KCR completed the Kaleshwaram project within three and half years,” MLC Kavitha said in her interaction.
Speaking about the local Congress leaders, Kavitha said that even Sudarshan Reddy, who has served as the irrigation minister during Congress rule, did not bring a single project to fruition, whereas CM KCR brought prosperity to the region.
Priority to BCs
Kavitha said that while the Congress party, during its 65 years of rule, gave one Backward Class (BC) hostel to Nizamabad, CM KCR gave 15 hostels. This was possible because the BRS knows how many BCs are there in the state, she said.
“Election Gandhi (Rahul Gandhi) talks about the BC census but he should know that the BRS government gave priority to the BCs immediately after coming into power. BRS is the government of BCs. BRS is the only government in the country to provide scholarships to 8,000 students from the BC community and send them abroad for higher studies,” she said.
“People should think whether we should believe the leaders who were talking about politics or those who were working for them even when there were no elections,” said Kavitha.
No communal issues
She asked Rahul Gandhi to explain why Congress did not question the BJP government in the Parliament on the AP Reorganization Act. “Why didn’t Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi not raise objection when the prime minister opposed the formation of Telangana?” she asked.
The BRS leader said that there were communal riots in the state when the Congress party wanted to change the chief minister but during the last 10 years, there were no communal riots in the state. “The friendship between the communities should not be disturbed in the state. The Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb should not be affected,” said Kavitha.
