KCR government past expiry date, says Priyanka; claims massive wave in favour of Congress

Husnabad: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Friday said that the ā€˜expiry dateā€™ for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government headed by K Chandrashekar Rao was over. She appealed to the people of Telangana to choose the Congress government for their overall welfare.

Addressing a largely attended public rally here, Gandhi said that there was a massive wave in favour of the Congress party and change was certain and imminent.

Priyanka Gandhi alleged that not only had the KCR government let down and betrayed the people of Telangana, it was mired in all sorts of corruption.

Allegations of fraud

ā€œThis is a government of the sand mafia, land mafia, wine mafia and mine mafia,ā€ she remarked while referring to massive scandals that have been reported during the last ten years of the KCR government. She also referred to the Kaleshwaram project where allegedly tens of thousands of public money were looted.

Gandhi referred to the widespread unemployment prevailing in the state. She said Telangana under KCR was among the states which had the largest rate of unemployment.

Listing Congress achievements

Drawing comparisons with the Congress-ruled states like Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, she said, the Congress government in Rajasthan had provided two lakh jobs in the state during the last five years. Similarly, she added, in Chhattisgarh, the Congress government had generated a large-scale rural employment base.

Maintaining that the Congress governments everywhere worked for the welfare of the people, she promised six guarantees for the people of Telangana, which would be fulfilled immediately after the Congress formed the government in the state.

The guarantees include Rs 2,500 monthly cash relief for all the women of the state, gas cylinder for Rs 500, free bus travel for women across the state, free 200 units of electricity, Rs 15,000 per acre per year compensation for farmers, Rs 12,000 per year for agriculture labourers, Rs 500 per quintal bonus on paddy over and above the MSP and loan waiver for farmers up to Rs 2 lakhs.

Priyanka Gandhi reiterated her allegation that the BRS, the BJP and the AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi were all working together. She pointed out that AIMIM fields so many candidates across the country to help BJP, but had fielded only nine candidates in Telangana, its home state, in order to help the BRS.
