Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) came down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, claiming the Congress government’s much-publicised ‘Future City’ project has no future.

He alleged that the lands acquired for Hyderabad Pharma City were being diverted for real estate ventures to benefit the CM’s family and friends.

‘Farmers cheated, jobs lost’

KTR said farmers had voluntarily given 20,000 acres spread across 56 villages for the Pharma City project initiated by the BRS government. The project, he said, had the potential to attract multi-crore investments and generate lakhs of jobs.

“Those very farmers have now been betrayed, and the people of Telangana have been denied employment opportunities,” he remarked.

Allegations of public money waste

The BRS leader accused CM Revanth of wasting hundreds of crores of public money spent on Pharma City infrastructure.

He said the scrapping of the project and promotion of an ‘imaginary Future City’ amounted to negligence and lack of vision. “This is what happens when the state is run by a careless leader,” he charged.

‘Legal hurdles ignored’

KTR reminded that under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, land acquired for a specific public purpose cannot be diverted for real estate use.

“I warned the Assembly two years ago. Yet, this government ignored legal provisions and indulged in PR stunts. Now, officials themselves are admitting to serious legal obstacles,” he said.

Call for clarity, warning of agitation

KTR demanded that the Congress government come clean on its plans for the Pharma City land and explain its stand to farmers.

“If the government continues this betrayal, BRS will fight on behalf of the farmers and expose this illegal attempt to divert land in the name of Future City,” he warned.
