Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday came down heavily on the Congress government in the State and blamed it for the deteriorating conditions in Hyderabad by encouraging lawlessness and inciting violence.
KTR visited the BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and his family at his residence allegedly came under the attack of the Congress leaders led by Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his supporters.
KTR expresses solidarity
The BRS working president expressed his solidarity for Kaushik Reddy’s family and wondered what would have occurred if any family members had been hurt in the incident. He demanded legal action against the policemen who had escorted the hooligans to Kaushik Reddy’s home.
Speaking to the media persons, KTR denounced the pandemonium carried out in broad daylight in the city’s centre and attributed the situation to chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s ‘incompetence’, who also holds the Home portfolio.
KTR also pointed out that such vandalism had not been witnessed in the State in the previous decade's rule of the BRS and cited as many as 28 murders in 30 days as proof of lawlessness. Taking note of CM Revanth Reddy’s frequent absences and trips to the party headquarters in New Delhi, he questioned his suitability to serve as chief minister in the long run in the state.
KTR targets CM Revanth
Defending Kaushik Reddy’s queries to Arekapudi Gandhi, he also asked the same questions concerning Gandhi’s present political ties. “CM Revanth Reddy is employing strategies intended to control headlines and divert attention. I predict that he will be remembered as the most inept chief minister in history,” KTR said.
KTR asserted that Hyderabad has been tranquil under the BRS leadership in the past decade, contrasting CM Revanth Reddy with past chief ministers such as N Chandrababu Naidu, YS Rajashekhara Reddy, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and K Rosaiah.

Taking a dig at CM Revanth Reddy, KTR said that the latter was using coercive tactics, like demolitions and other actions, to undermine the BRS’s accomplishments. “CM Revanth Reddy had a grudge against the people of Hyderabad for giving the BRS an overwhelming mandate in the Assembly elections, where the Congress came up empty. Although there was no ‘Andhra-Telangana panchayat’ under the BRS government, the Congress was stoking these divisions for its own political advantage,” the BRS working president said.
‘BRS will keep demanding for the fulfilment of promises’
KTR said that the BRS would keep pressing the Congress government for the fulfilment of all promises made to the people. He stated Kaushik Reddy played a key role in bringing a disqualification suit against MLAs Danam Nagender, Tellam Venkatrao and Kadiam Srihari, citing that the High Court’s directive to the speaker for action against the defecting MLAs had caused worries of losing their membership.
The BRS working president recalled that CM Revanth Reddy had earlier declared that MLAs who left the party had to be killed by beating and stoning. Gandhi was named PAC chairman on the day of the High Court ruling, which prompted an attack on Kaushik Reddy’s home after the latter raised concerns about the eroding of democratic principles, he said.
