KTR claims Congress neglecting Basti Dawakhanas, wages of healthcare workers
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday accused the Congress government in Telangana of neglecting public health. He alleged gaps in healthcare services and incomplete government projects.
Inspection of Basti Dawakhana
KTR, along with former health minister Tatikonda Rajaiah, local corporators and BRS leaders, visited the Basti Dawakhana at Ibrahim Nagar in Khairatabad constituency here. He interacted with patients and reviewed facility conditions, raising concerns over staff salaries, medicine shortages and service quality.
‘450 Basti Dawakhanas set up under KCR’
KTR recalled that the previous BRS government, under former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), had set up 450 Basti Dawakhanas across Telangana to provide affordable healthcare.
Telangana Diagnostic Centres offered free medical tests, and each district received a medical college linked to a full-fledged government hospital, KTR said.
Congress neglected to pay wages to healthcare workers
KTR alleged that the Congress government had failed to maintain these facilities. “Staff at several Basti Dawakhanas have not been paid for four months. Essential medicines are in short supply, and Telangana Diagnostics services have collapsed,” he said.
Incomplete TIMS and NIMS projects
Highlighting stalled healthcare infrastructure, KTR said, “Under KCR, four TIMS hospitals with 1,000 beds each were launched, and a 2,000-bed NIMS expansion was initiated. We completed 90 per cent of the work, but the current government has not finished the remaining 10 per cent.”
Garbage collection stopped, viral fever spreading: KTR
KTR also criticised the handling of city sanitation.
“Garbage collection has stopped in many areas, the mosquito menace has increased, and viral fevers are spreading. The government must act immediately,” he urged.
Call for new Basti Dawakhanas and timely salaries
He demanded that the state government establish another 450 Basti Dawakhanas and complete pending TIMS hospitals.
A detailed report on the deteriorating health conditions will be submitted under Rajaiah’s supervision. KTR also urged the government to release pending salaries of Anganwadi workers and implement the promised pay hike without delay.
Political accusations against Congress
Targeting Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, KTR said, “He was elected on a BRS ticket, yet appears as a Congress star campaigner for the Jubilee Hills by-election.”
He further accused the Congress leadership of hypocrisy and double standards, calling it the “All India Corruption Committee” led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
TPCC president slams KTR Over ‘All India Corruption Committee’ remark
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday strongly reacted to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s recent remarks branding the All India Congress Committee (AICC) as the “All India Corruption Committee.”
KTR accused of hypocrisy on Corruption
Goud stated that KTR should first examine his own family’s record before speaking on morality. “KTR talking about corruption is like a fox preaching honesty. Corruption is not political in your family, it is by birth,” he said, pointing to alleged irregularities in projects such as Kaleshwaram, Formula E, liquor and land scams in Telangana.
Family wealth questioned
The TPCC chief also referred to a past interview of KTR’s sister, highlighting the sudden rise in the family’s wealth. “Telangana knows, it is corruption, not capability, that built your fortunes,” he said.
BRS criticised for ignoring weaker sections
Goud accused the BRS of failing to support weaker sections of society. He contrasted KTR’s remarks with the leadership of Dalit leader Mallikarjun Kharge in the AICC, claiming KTR’s government has obstructed BC reservations and betrayed communities instrumental in building Telangana.
Congress’ role in Telangana highlighted
“Your father owes his political rise to Congress, and Congress gave birth to Telangana. Today, Congress is working to cleanse the state of the corruption your dynasty spread,” Goud said. He added that the BRS no longer stands for “Bharat Rashtra Samithi” but for “Bhrashtachar Rakshana Samithi,” a syndicate built to protect scams and family greed.
Political obituary warning
Goud concluded by asserting that the people of Telangana have seen through KTR’s mask and will determine the political fate of the BRS.
