KTR slams CM Revanth as Naidu’s covert, ready for open debate on farmers

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has accepted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s challenge for an open debate on farmers’ welfare, asserting that he is ready to face the CM anywhere, anytime.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KTR said Revanth Reddy should decide the place, date, and time for the discussion.

“I accept his challenge. Let him choose the venue, whether his native Kongareddypalli, his constituency Kodangal, KCR’s native Chintamadaka, Gajwel, Ambedkar statue premises, Assembly, or on July 8 at 11 am at Somajiguda Press Club. I will be there,” he declared.

“CM needs basic preparation”

KTR took a sharp dig at Revanth Reddy, claiming he lacks even basic knowledge about agriculture and Telangana’s development.

“I am giving him 72 hours preparation time to avoid embarrassment. Ask any farmer in Telangana, and they will say it was KCR who transformed agriculture into a festival,” he said.

The BRS leader alleged that under Congress rule, farmers are struggling for fertilisers and seeds, and staging protests across mandals has become common.

Accuses CM of betraying Telangana

He accused the Chief Minister of betraying Telangana’s interests by diverting its waters to Andhra Pradesh for the sake of his ‘guru’ Chandrababu Naidu. Referring to the Banakacharla project, KTR said, “Revanth is working like a covert agent for AP. Telangana’s Congress government is functioning to please Andhra rather than serving our farmers.”

Highlights BRS achievements

Listing out BRS achievements, KTR said that under KCR’s leadership, Telangana surpassed Punjab and Haryana to become the number one state in rice production.

He highlighted the 24-hour free power supply to farmers, Mission Kakatiya for rejuvenating tanks, construction of check dams, and Rs 9 billion directly credited into farmers’ accounts through Rythu Bandhu.

He questioned why Congress could not implement similar initiatives despite tall claims.

Questions Congress promises

KTR criticised Revanth Reddy for failing to keep his poll promises. “You assured Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers but haven’t delivered. You promised three crops a year but gave nothing. Today, farmers are awaiting dues of nearly Rs 19,000 per acre from your government,” he alleged.

He said it was shameful that Revanth was releasing farmer welfare funds only during elections while KCR provided Rythu Bandhu during sowing seasons.

People questioning Congress failures

Taking a broader dig at the Congress regime, KTR asked where the promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women was, what happened to the free scooters scheme, and when the two lakh government jobs per year would materialise. He further questioned the delay in implementing a full farm loan waiver as promised in the Congress’s election declaration.

“Congress turned Telangana into ATM for Delhi”

KTR concluded that every section of society in Telangana today is questioning the Congress government for its failures. “Except Revanth Reddy’s coterie, no one is happy. The Congress has turned Telangana into an ATM for its Delhi bosses. People are watching everything and will give their verdict soon,” he warned.
