KTR slams Congress govt for recommending CBI probe against KCR in Kaleshwaram row
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress government for recommending a CBI inquiry against former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), calling it a ‘disgraceful act’ and an ‘insult to the people of Telangana.’
‘KCR’s rule was Telangana’s golden era’
KTR asserted that Telangana witnessed its most progressive phase under KCR’s leadership.
He cited landmark irrigation projects such as Kaleshwaram, Mallanna Sagar, Kondapochamma Sagar, Palamuru-Rangareddy and Sitarama, which not only ensured drinking water for Hyderabad for the next 50 years but also transformed the state into a leading agricultural hub.
“Kaleshwaram, the world’s largest lift irrigation project, carries 2 TMCs of water daily and irrigates lakhs of acres. These projects turned Telangana green while rivals turned red with envy,” he remarked.
‘Congress hypocrisy on CBI’
Targeting Congress leaders, KTR recalled that Rahul Gandhi had once dubbed the CBI ‘PM Modi’s pocket organisation,’ while CM Revanth now praises the same agency. “This double standard only reflects the miserable state of the Congress party,” he said.
He alleged that both Congress and BJP were ‘working hand in hand’ to malign KCR through baseless cases, unable to stomach the affection he continues to command from the people.

‘Congress rule has thrown Telangana into disarray’
KTR said in just 21 months, Congress rule had pushed Telangana into chaos. Farmers, he claimed, are standing in long queues for urea, leaving their footwear behind as proof of desperation.
“CM Revanth has lowered the dignity of the Chief Minister’s Office with irresponsible remarks, unlike statesmen such as Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao (NTR), N Chandrababu Naidu, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and KCR,” KTR observed.
Singareni workers and welfare schemes
The BRS leader reminded that even during the Covid-19 crisis, KCR ensured uninterrupted welfare schemes despite financial strain. He also underlined the BRS government’s support for Singareni coal workers, having met most of their demands.
Congress leader Prabhakar Rao joins BRS
In a significant development, senior Congress leader Prabhakar Rao from Manuguru’s Pinapaka constituency, along with his followers, formally joined the BRS in Erravalli. Welcoming him, KTR said: “No leader in Indian politics has matched KCR’s record of development in ten years.”
Call to strengthen BRS in Khammam
KTR urged BRS cadres to ‘hoist the pink flag in all 10 constituencies’ of Khammam district. Announcing his upcoming tour of Bhadrachalam and Kothagudem on September 10 and 11, he called upon party workers to expose Congress’ ‘betrayal’ and BJP’s ‘dangers’ while working unitedly for victories in local body, assembly, and parliamentary polls.
“The only way to restore Telangana’s progress is by bringing KCR back as Chief Minister,” KTR declared.
