Hyderabad: `Apologise or face consequences’: KTR threatens legal action against CM Revanth for linking him to drugs case
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has warned Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of legal consequences for allegedly linking him to a drugs case.
KTR asserted that he would drag the Chief Minister to court for his slanderous statements.
`Apologise or Face Consequences’
Responding strongly to Revanth Reddy’s comments made during an informal media interaction in New Delhi, KTR wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Revanth Reddy, I will drag you to the courts and make you pay for every slanderous statement of yours. Apologise or face the consequences.”
KTR said he had so far exercised restraint out of respect for the Chief Minister’s office but could no longer remain silent.
Challenges CM to provide proof
Directly questioning Revanth Reddy, KTR said, “What is the basis for your statement on me being investigated in drug cases? Do you have even an iota of proof? Is there any case registered? I challenge you to openly come out and show the evidence you have to substantiate your statements or accept this is just another cheap, vulgar, baseless narrative of yours.”
He accused Revanth Reddy of lacking the courage to make these statements face-to-face and of resorting to “character assassination under the garb of informal chitchats” to escape legal accountability.
CM’s allegation on drug use in Dubai
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also alleged that KTR had taken drugs with one Kedar in Dubai and claimed that Kedar died due to a cocktail of drugs.
He also said he has a report on Kedar’s death and is ready to table it in the Assembly for debate with BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who is now the Leader of Opposition.
However, Revanth made it clear that he would not debate with KTR, stating that KTR had earlier secured a stay from the High Court in the drugs case.
Claims of infighting within KCR family
Reacting to allegations from BRS leaders that he compromised Telangana’s interests by meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil in Delhi on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy countered by claiming that there is infighting within KCR’s family.
He alleged that KTR was demanding the post of Leader of Opposition, which KCR was not agreeing to, and that Kavitha was not ready to accept KTR’s leadership.
