Labour Minister Venkataswamy accuses BRS of neglecting women’s welfare, rural growth in Chennur

Chennur (Mancherial Dist): Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy on Monday accused the previous BRS regime of systematically undermining women’s welfare and rural development.

Speaking at a large public meeting in the Chennur constituency, the Minister, accompanied by District In-charge Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, performed the Bhoomi Pooja for an Advanced Technology Centre (ATC).

The project, valued at Rs 47.11 crore, aims to bridge the skill gap for local youth and provide high-end employment opportunities.

Providing financial support for women

In a symbolic move to revive rural economies, Minister Vivek handed over a cheque of Rs 9 crore to local women’s groups under the interest-free loan scheme.

Vivek alleged that the BRS government had deliberately halted interest-free loans and failed to release a single paisa for women’s groups even during the peak of the Covid-19 crisis.

‘Congress dismantled mafia’

He claimed that the Congress government has successfully dismantled the ‘sand, rice and land mafias’ that had previously plagued the constituency under the protection of the former MLA.

The Minister laid out a roadmap for Chennur’s development, focusing on healthcare and public transport:

1. 100-Bed Hospital: A new 100-bed facility is set to be inaugurated in May 2026, which Vivek promised would "change the face of Chennur."

2. Rajiv Aarogyasri: He highlighted that citizens can now access medical services worth up to Rs 10 lakh under the revamped scheme.

3. Connectivity: Plans for a dedicated RTC bus depot in Chennur were announced, along with new direct bus services to Hyderabad.

4. Somanapalli Integrated School: Construction has commenced on a massive integrated school project in Somanapalli village with a budget of Rs 250 crore.

Battle cry for municipal polls

During his speech, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao shifted the focus to the upcoming urban local body elections. He criticised former CM KCR for leaving the state with a Rs 8 lakh crore debt and urged the party cadre to ensure a clean sweep for Congress.

Rao also revealed that the Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for an 850 MW power plant in February. Combined with the existing 1,200 MW plant in Jaipur, the region is expected to become a major industrial and employment hub for Northern Telangana.
