Hyderabad: Responding to the alleged involvement of a MIM MLA's son in the Jubilee Hills gang-rape case of a minor girl, AIMIM MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday said that the law will take its own course.
"It is a heinous crime. The law will take its own course," he gave a single-line reply in an interview with a media organisation.
On Sunday, cops had confirmed that the MLA's son was inside the red Mercedes Benz but the police said he did not rape the girl and was not present in the Innova inside which the crime took place. The police said since the MLA's son did not board the Innova, they have not taken any action against him. "We will record the victim's statement once she is better and take necessary action. If she says that the MLA's son was involved then action will be taken against him," the police said.
Earlier on Saturday, BJP leader Raghunandan Rao had shown the video of the rape in a press meeting alleging the MIM MLA's son's involvement in the crime.
So far, four of the five accused, including three minors, have been arrested in the gang-rape case. The fifth accused, Omair Khan, is absconding. West zone DCP Joel Davis, on Monday, said the police are trying their best to catch the fifth accused.
